Stephane Pelletier's Predictions for 2026
Don't know about most of the replying crowd here, but when I hit the trails I see a lot of gray beards. I'm 66 and exclusively ride what my Quebecois neighbors to the north call a muscular bike, but the writing's on the wall and I'm spending a lot of time looking for that perfect light assist eMtb. I suspect a lot of the commentariat hasn't yet applied for medicare, but you will and having a bike that will allow you to double your time in the saddle is a good thing and obviously the bike co's are correctly positioning their product for their aging market. eMtb's also level the playing field for mismatched riders and, in my experience as a trail ambassador for a very well known system, bring a lot of former non-riders such as spouses or parents into the sport. I'll still ride my Spur every other day, but I'm psyched about riding the gap days on a bike that doesn't leave me feeling trashed after the first few climbs.

Jul 10, 2022Pinarello Dogma 60.1, size 59.5cm
$2000 USDPinarello Dogma 60.1 built in 2011. Campy carbon record 11 speed. Excellent condition, very few minor scratches in the usual places. American Classic 420 Aero 3 wheelset. Fizik Allianze saddle. Only flaw is carbon spacer on front derailleur cage is missing - replaceable part does not affect shifting. Steerer tube cut long with extra stacking washers so bars can be set flush w/ top of headset or up to 3 1/4" higher and various intervals in between. Lightly used, never raced nor crashed. Neck issues forced me to switch to mtn biking full time several years ago and this bike has mostly sat indoors un-ridden. Suitable for a rider +/- 6'0" tall. Will accept payment by Venmo only. Buyer pays shipping cost.
