Jun 20, 2017Giant XTC Advanced 2 Carbon 29er Hardtail XL
$1700 USDThis all-new for 2017 hardtail from Giant uses lightweight carbon construction to cover a variety of off-road adventures. In 29er form, it is a race-ready steed. However, you can change it all up with a 27.5+ conversion or, thanks to sliding rear dropouts, a single speed setup.
A note on the frame color:
If you looked this model up on Giant’s website, you probably noticed that this particular bike has the same paint job as the XTC Advanced 3, but the same component package as the XTC Advanced 2. When I went to purchase this bike, the XL XTC Advanced 2 was backordered several months, while the XL XTC Advanced 3 was in stock. The shop I ordered it through was nice enough to order an XL XTC Advanced 3 and an L XTC Advanced 2, and then swap the components across the two frames. The end result? The same same carbon frame (the frames are identical in construction across the entire XTC Advanced range) with a different (and more attractive) paint job, with all of the nicer components normally found on the XTC Advanced 2.
Condition:
Like I explained, this bike was purchased brand new about eight months ago, and has been ridden a relatively easy 750 miles since then. It was raced for one season, meticulously maintained, and now available to purchase in exceptional condition.
Component spec:
Frame: Advanced grade Giant carbon, Boost spacing, sliding dropouts, 29er or 27.5+ compatible.
Fork: 100mm Fox 32 Step-Cast Performance, Grip damper, Kabolt, Boost spacing.
Wheelset: Giant XC2, 28H, Boost-specific hubs, Sapim Race spokes.
Tires:
Front: Schwalbe Nobby Nic 29 x 2.25, Snakeskin, Pacestar, Tubeless Easy.
Rear: Schwalbe Racing Ralph 29 x 2.25, Snakeskin, Pacestar, Tubeless Easy.
Both tires are set up tubeless with fresh Stan’s sealant, and only have about 500 miles on them.
Drivetrain: Shimano SLX m7000, 1x11, 175mm cranks with 30t chainring, 11-42t cassette, BRAND NEW Shimano XT chain (with KMC quick link), BRAND NEW Shimano bottom bracket.
Brakes: Shimano SLX m7000, freshly bled, 180/160mm rotors front/rear, BRAND NEW Shimano pads front and rear.
Bars: Giant Contact Trail, 740mm wide, uncut, 31.8mm clamp.
Stem: Giant Contact, 100mm long.
Headset: FSA Orbit integrated, BRAND NEW bottom bearing.
Seatpost: KS Lev Integra, 100mm drop, bar-mounted remote.
Saddle: Giant Contact.
Grips: Lizard Skins, lock-on, Danny MacAskill signature edition, also have stock black Giant grips.
Total cost (new, without tax): over $3,000.
Stock bike: $2,575.
Dropper post: $300.
Upgraded tires: $125.
Upgraded grips: $30.
I have recently spent another $150 replacing semi-worn-out parts (chain, bb bearings, headset bearing, brake pads, fresh sealant) and getting the bike professionally serviced (brake bleed, bb replacement, hub service) so you can purchase this bike knowing it is ready to ride straightaway, and doesn’t have any hidden maintenance costs coming along with it.
Located in San Francisco, cash payment and local pickup only.
Thanks for looking!
