12 of the Best 2020 Flat Pedals Ridden & Rated
On my second set of XTs now. Sold the first ones with my Remedy, regretted it and bought more for the Slash. Yes they hit things, the leading pins looked very second hand but nothing would break no matter how many rocks they hit. Bearings are stupid smooth (not even considered servicing them after a good 12 months of abuse) and run like butter. Only mod I have made its to put the long pins in the 4 outer most spots and have to stay put when it gets rowdy with twisted feet because the grip is just mad and don't want to try and move my feet around. I have Saints as well, they're fantastic but the XT is just a nicer feel. Small size with sz 10 shoes is perfect. Bmx history makes me less likely to feel comfy on big slab platforms. I do however miss my old Syncros Mental stainless flats I had years ago. 23 stitches from a pedal also but goddamn they were indestructible.

Review: Shimano's All-New XT 4-Piston Brakes
Having had run everything from xt 2 pots, Saint 2 pots, same in both later models in 4 pots then a bunch of others, Never thought I'd say it but I'm a SRAM convert. I know how to bleed and advance brakes, it's my fkn job. My previous codes were flawless. The Saints always had lever flatspots and needed cycling to get consistent feel during runs. All the xts did too. I developed tendinitis in my left hand after non stop daily dh runs from the rigid feel of Shimano brakes. Now, I'm not complaining about performance, they worked, I never hit a tree from failure or blew them up, they just cooked my hands from the wooden feel. They work! Just in an ugly way. Having run Barry basic guides, yes the R model, they didn't give anywhere near the hand issues, imagine that. They however had SFA power at the pinch when you need it. Next phase recently, G2 Ultimates, holy fuck. Set these things up right and you never look back. Feel is incredible, just sheer control. They stop, modulate and for a complete ADD brake nerd they are the best thing ever for precision. Just my 2c. Everyone has their own and I'll not argue. Just don't rest on your laurels, you may find something out there that works for you.

First Look: Garmin's New Edge 530 and 830 Cycling Computers
I dropped the bike mounted computer for a Fenix 5x almost a year ago. Only then did I realise I never actually look at my current ride stats unless they're in front of me. Occasionally looking at my watch is fine for HR and Distance etc. Has trailforks etc if I want it too. I can wear it anywhere also to read the time!

Pinkbike Poll: How Do You Prefer to Get to the Top of a Descent?
Yep I'm definitely one of the sheep masses! Prefer a chairlift but in its absence then pedalling it is! Realistically, mountain biking is about the journey, up or down its the same thing. The convenience of a sit down and a brew on the way up is however such an obvious preference!
