@verticaljusticebiking: not only the UCI fee, but also all the logistic you need to set up for such an event, it's all at the organisator expense and it's quite a budget. In Switzerland the country doesn't contribute financially to those events.

It’s not possible as there is still tons of snow if you were thinking about riding across Col de Cou.
The only way is driving.
