Could This Flipped Drivetrain Solution Be The Future of Mountain Biking?
lower the chainring = higher the chain tension. "He is working towards a system that can work with a cog as small as 7t" - imagine wear and loses

Renault"s F1 TMD had a dampener as well. I guess it's only a matter of time, when somebody make one dampened for bikes

First Ride: e*thirteen's Sidekick Hub Elegantly Isolates Suspension Movement
@hitarpotar: It's just a nature of how gearing works. pedalkick is measured at pedals, hense the name, plus how fast engagement works we also feel at pedals. so we have to look at gearing and crank rotation.
Ofcourse 28/52 gear is an extreme example, but to prove a point.
Fun fact - e13 can say, that the bigger the cog at the back - the higher the pedalkick, so their system works great. but we don't need no pedalkick suppression in lower gears, we need faster engagement

First Ride: e*thirteen's Sidekick Hub Elegantly Isolates Suspension Movement
this makes it basically counterproductive - in lower gears, where we need faster engagement for technical uphills we get more freestroke, in higher gears, where we can benefit from less pedalkick we get lower freestroke. o-chain seems much better in this regard

First Ride: e*thirteen's Sidekick Hub Elegantly Isolates Suspension Movement
you are absolutely right.
here for example:
Imagine an uphill on enduro bike with 28T at front and 52T at back
with this hub’s 18 degrees of free stroke at the hub it will translate to 33!!! degrees of free stroke at cranks - good luck pedalling anything up, rather than a fireroad
