rstwosix: My-eONE-SIXTY-900
in: Bikes - All Mountain/Enduro110 views
My Merida eONE SIXTY 900. No e-Bike category available - so I stuck it in All Mountain/Enduro, which is what I use it for. I have to say I (along with many others) was sceptical when e-MTBikes were first released around 5 years ago. Having worked at the local bike shop I'm able to ride anything new they stock, which although being a privilege, means I often want to buy stuff. When this 2018 Merida was released the shop owner rang me (sounded a bit excited) and said ''have a go on this". I walked in the door and thought... shite, it looks good for an e-bike. Rode it 'round the block a few times ... and the first seeds were sown. He then said "take it for the weekend to ride your trails". Next day I headed out, my head full of stuff like, this thing weighs a ton...how's it gonna handle single track?... how's it gonna jump? First hill I rode up any cynicism faded away and I started to get quite interested. I got to my favourite descent, made sure it wasn't in any boost mode, and away I went. On the way down, my head was filled with thoughts like, the weight doesn't matter... handles well... jumps just fine... wow I'm having a ball! Numerous loops later I was sold, totally sold. Paid for the bike Monday morning and 3500km later (with a big break rebuilding trails after our 2020 bushfires) I'm loving this bike.Friends who ride it want one and others won't ride it 'cos they know they'll want one! Mods I've made: 1. Custom built wheel set - DT Swiss hubs, spokes & rims. Minion DHF both ends. 2. XT cranks. 3. 2021 Rockshox Super Deluxe Ultimate shock with MegNeg. 2021 Rockshox Lyric Debonair C1 air spring. Charger 2.1 Damper LSC & HSC. 4. WTB Deva saddle. 5. VP Harrier Wide pedals (stock bolts replaced with long stainless grub screws. Five Ten Impacts of course.
