Ask Pinkbike: Chainguides on Older Bikes, Changing Pads and Roost Guards
Hayes Brake dude, if you don't end up throwing the old brakes in the bin straight after this here's something that might help you out with that front brake issue. If the play you're describing is the lever blade moving in and out with out the feeling of it contacting anything, then the master cylinder isn't returning/springing out and it needs to be replaced, or at least taken apart/cleaned/lubed and reassembled. Also, the brake dragging is not only limited to the pistons in need of being pushed back into the bores. take the pads out, clean the exposed part of the piston with a cotton swab and some isopropyl alcohol and lube them with a drop of brake fluid before pushing them back in. Seized pistons or pistons not returning into the calliper can cause the brakes to drag quite a bit, even if the mechanic did everything right when installing the pads at the shop.

Aug 28, 2013Trek Slash 9 17.5" Price Drop
$3000 USDTime to sell the Slash... love the bike, but next season I'll need something with more travel. It's a 2012 Trek Slash 9 (17.5" frame), mostly stock with a few changes here and there and normal paint chip/wear marks from a season of use. It's been mechanic owned and operated, with overhauls and detailed service on a fairly regular basis. The bike will stripped to the frame before being sold and thoroughly cleaned, lubricated where needed and re-assembled, along with having the brakes bleed, an air can service on the rear shock and the wheels getting tensioned and trued. Also, the original drivetrain parts (spider w/24t/38t chainrings, truvativ x guide, front derailleur and shifter) along with the original carbon Bontrager Rhythm Pro handle bars will be included with the bike, so you can have it set up more for trail riding if you wish! Feel free to email me with any questions, thanks for taking a look.
It'll come equipped with the following:
