Does not make sense … most spinal injuries result from vertical crash on the head or even bum and compressing the spine, that cannot be prevented by neck brace or body armour.
I broke C2, T9 and T11 last year this way and know a lot of riders with similar crash patterns

A very small amount of spinal injuries happen due to direct impact to the back.
I am just recovering from broken C2, T1, T2, T3 and T9, T11 caused by a huge vertical impact on the head going off a big jump, its 6 month back now and waiting for the titanium material to be removed.
A good helmet that compensates as much energy as possible ist the most effective in that case as much as training your body regularly.
When assuming some sort of spinal injury stay calm, don't move and let you rescue out.
