The Pinkbike Podcast: Episode 6 - Over Biked Or Under Biked?
For my riding I love my new Ripley with 2.5 tires and a 140 mm fork out front. For XC I just throw on some light rubber and a 120mm step-cast and I have a very light efficient race bike. Best of both worlds.

Review: Race Face Next SL G5 Carbon Cranks
This is great news! Hopefully when my current set (4th replacement set) fails, they will be replaced with these improved cranks and I can be done with the regularly scheduled trips to my local bike shop.

Fox 32 Step Cast 100mm

$450 CAD
Boost, 29er, g2 geometry which I believe is 51mm offset. The steerer tube has been cut to 14.5 cm. This is off of a medium Trek Top fuel. Includes never used Fox remote. I’ve been running it without the remote which defaults to open.

Field Test: 2020 Trek Top Fuel - The Featherweight That Packs a Powerful Punch
I believe those of you that say you've never had a problem with Knock Block, but clearly you've never tried it on a technical climb.

Review: Trek's All-New 2020 Fuel EX Trail Bike
Knock Block is a non-starter for me. I had the previous model and it's something that got in the way on almost every ride. It's fine if you can arc your turns smoothly, even tight ones, but the second you need to pause or stall and change your line to a tighter one mid-turn you can't. It was also annoying when walking the bike through tight spaces where you need to turn your bars 90deg to avoid hitting your nice car or garage door. I was interested in the new Top Fuel for XC, but now that they've added the feature that no one ever asked for I'm out.

Review: Bontrager's Updated XR3 is a Surprisingly Versatile XC Tire
I've had very good luck with XR2s over the past few years, mainly due to their flat resistance. I ran XR2's last year for every training ride and every race including the BC Bike Race, Nimby 50 etc. without one flat. The same cannot be said for any lightweight XC tires I've used in the past. I'm guessing the XR3's are even more reliable.
