@KalkhoffKiller: I agree, in real chunky stuff the fun is not there on a hardtail. But for most situation a modern hardtail with slack geo is extremely fun and playfull. I'm a big believer that a lot of people are overbike and would have more fun on smaller travel bike or hardtail. But its another subject completely :)

@KalkhoffKiller: well I think that's a really good advice to master the hardtail to become good. But its really not mandatory to get good, if its what you mean by half truth. I ride an hardtail as my only mtb (chromag rootdown) but its just a taste question, I like it a lot. As long as everybody has fun riding.

@KalkhoffKiller: For me doing wheelie keeps the hearth young and is quite fun. There's no single time I take my bike and dont do at least one wheelie, even alone, not to impress anybody. I think your underestimating the power of the wheelie, just my opinions, have fun riding !

I'm not a big follower of xc, and this looks unusually hard technically compared to the other few events I watched. It makes it a lot more interesting (to my taste).The fact that there are chances of riders falling makes it a lot more exciting !
