It's extremely dry and smoky as hell in the Okanagan right now. On top of that, there are hundreds of evacuees from the 2 major fires burning locally. Many have lost their homes and are unable to find hotel rooms due to all the tourists visiting the area.

This!
5'5" Female here. Got my first 29er several years ago. Yes it rolls over everything nicely, but I also find that it handles and corners like a semi. I do still enjoy riding it, but it's nowhere near as fun and nimble as my dual 27.5.
Also Leigh Donovan is amazing!!

This! I have an older pair of DaKine Mayhem knee pads with the hard plastic shell and they're fantastic. They stay in place, are comfortable and have protected my knees on many falls, including some properly nasty crashes in jagged rocks. Unfortunately, I can't find the Mayhem's anywhere in Canada, and my current pair is starting to get a bit trashed. I keep hoping they'll last another season. Wish I could find something similar in an elbow pad as well.

@gregnangatang: So true. I've been riding "meat powered" mountain bikes for more than 3 decades and don't plan on stopping anytime soon. Although, I am finding that injuries and failing parts (mine, not my bike's) occasionally slow me down.
One thing about the petrol powered dirt bikes is that they seem to depreciate much slower than mountain bikes do. At that's the case out here.

@hubertje-ryu: The Freeride is and interesting creature. I had a love/hate relationship with mine. It was a lot of fun but also a weird bike that required constant tinkering. I'm still a beginner when it comes to dirt biking, and my Freeride ended up being a too bit much trouble for me. Especially after getting stranded on the trail a few times. I eventually got frustrated with its quirks and sold it. There are days where I regret that decision though.
Mine was a 2017. Not sure what the newer ones are like.
