We would be much better off allowing riders to choose their own bike / wheel size.
Restricting equipment size based on perceived advantages for certain sized riders would be difficult. If we did that, we might as well have stopped at 26", which in the long term would be very disadvantageous for tall riders... just look at old videos of Greg / Peaty from the 90's.
Unfortunately body type plays a big role in performance. Controlling equipment to adjust for that would be unwise.

This sport has a pretty rich history, very cool to see today's action being put in context. It's hard to relate how dominant Nico was in the late 90's, early 2000's... 10X world champs. He was on another level.
