This past Saturday, the final round of the Gravity Canterbury 2014 Enduro series went down (and up) on the Port Hills - Christchurch. A stark contrast to the ideal weather at Craigieburn (RND#4) with winter just around the corner down in the Southern Hemisphere, there was fog, rain and cool air all part of the day's race conditions.

The first stage was a quick blast down 'Mt Vernon' single trail through the mist, that was blanketing the Port Hills. Stage 2, started with a mild uphill, followed by a blast down 'Lava Flow', which lives up to its name, with sharp rocks to avoid and volcanic gardens aplenty.

Stage 3, worked down through the Victoria Park trails from twisty 'Break Free', to steep, rocky 'Radi Garden', followed up by a blast down 'Race Line', a favourite fixture in the local DH series. Stage 4, sent riders down the 'too many corners' to remember - 'Flying Nun', followed up by stage 5 - 'Crocodile', the longest trail in the race at just over 6 minutes.

Agreed. A bit like their lack of photos of the rock garden at the Mt Hutt world cup. Would have been good to see some radi garden! Way to go Hamdog in the vintage Rockstar! Cracks me up how Enduro that '04 Freeride top looks. Chees Ham.

Understand your frustration guys, we would have like to get more photos too! Keep in mind we weren't paid to head out to this race or the Craigieburn Enduro. We provided these race reports & photos out of good will for the riders and the race club.

Our primary focus of attending this event was to capture video and we have limited resources to work with, so we can't be at all places at all times capturing all the action especially while carrying packs of camera gear, batteries and the Hexacopter up and down who knows how many km's of trail...I would have also preferred to race these Enduro's on my new bike, but sent myself over the bars and broke my elbow just before the Craigieburn race...Anyway look out for the video wrap up coming soon. Cheers

Sorry to hear about your crash it always sucks being kept of the bike. I appreciate you covering the event then I didn't realize the situation. I moved away from CHCH a few year ago for work and they are still some of my favorite trails and it would have been awesome to see some of the locals shredding it.

Great Pics - thanks for taking the time to get out and cover some of these local races, really appreciate it. Look forward to seeing the video, as long as you didn't get me peeing in the bushes with your helicopter flying over my head!!
