@sackifrombikeyoke: kind of. If we forget about the weight increase caused the addition of oil, the more oil we add, the longer we push away the lower's service. Your design is for a completely new lower leg that would fit on fox internals? After a second thought, my idea would be 1 part instead of 2 (lower part and the dust wiper). Easier to install with the OEM Fox driver tool. Tricky to get out and would require a 3 points bearing puller. In order to have more room to add the 2 ports, nothing prevent "us" from having a seal with higher top height than the usual dust wiper. Hopefully, the junk will remains at the bottom, so we need to have a "straw" connected to the exhaust port. The bleed procedure would begin with adding oil from the exhaust to clean the inlet, and then proceed to the flush. I find the idea cool enough to give it a try with my 3d printer. I shall use TPU90A or something like it. Considering that the contact points between the seal and the stanchion will be wet forever, friction is not an issue anymore. Spilling oil everywhere now is one! Especially with 4WT. I have other winter project I want to finish first, but I have way too much free-time for me with my brain. I'm use to f*** around with any kind of projects. The idea is good but look incomplete to me. I also turn the bike upside down before a ride and it does the trick... but I like the idea of fine-tuning the original idea and I'm not sure Joel will go this way... but listen... Adding new oil into the fork could eventually cause a hydro-lock if somebody over-do the oiling. Solution? Adding a second seal inside, replace the foam ring. The installation would be easy when the original dust wiper is removed. I'm stressed about possible increase of friction because everything would be bath in oil ;) I would modify Joel design by adding a second port. Why? To be able to purge the new oil chamber. 1 supply port, 1 exhaust port. Once the lower newer seal installed, install the top dust wiper and finish the rebuild as always. Then fill the oil chamber until it leaks from the exhaut port. Put back the 2 setscrew of the 2 ports. This way, I think we would extent the lower service by 1000%. If somebody takes this idea to the market someday, I would appreciate to get a few of them :)
