Just because winter is in full swing around here, doesn't mean we can't reminisce about the good ol' days. Last October to end our summer, we spent a day hammering the slopes at Highland Mountain Bike Park.
October 17, 2010. What an amazing day. I woke up very early. Let's say 0600 to get ready for my road trip with Ty Delphia. It was chilly out, very foggy and rainy. I thought to myself, we will just go anyway despite the whether outlook. I get to Ty's about 0730.
Driving through most of Vermont and half way through New Hampshire, we were one of very few cars on the road that morning. Probably the only car that is entertaining passengers with Family Guy episodes on his Samsung Captivate with sound Blue Toothed through the stereo.
We got lost in Franklin for about 5 minutes, but we got on track with the help of Highlands front desk. We arrived about 1000 am and the glorious sun blazed the parking lot. There were already loads of people, SUV's and thousands of dollars in bikes getting ready for the day.
The rest of the day? Well, despite having to go back to the repair shop numerous times to get Ty's chain fixed and trying to keep my own chain on, we managed to enjoy most of the day. We had to call it quits not long after Ty snapped his chain at the 8 pack and I smashed my big toe into a dirt mound taking off my toe nail!
