EMES - Racing - DH frame [info + photos]

by Weeze Bike Components
EMES - RACING is a bike component company based in Cieszyn, we are relatively new company because the project started at the beggining of the 2010 racing season in Poland. The founders of the company were part of the polish MTB scene from the beggining of Polish downhill racing. We design our products in a way so we can be proud ridding them - because we ride what we build.

We make products for the rider who expects quality, performance, and
reliability - they must also survive abuse of a beggining and a hardcore
ride of an advanced downhill racer. We are spending a lot of time on the
road, 4 x tracks and in the mountains of course.

Our lineup will start as one bike frameset and a Carbon rims.

Our frame is made of 7005 heat threated aluminum alloy. We decided to make use of hydro formed and butted tubes. We have also incorporated all the design features that we feel are important for many riders:

- 1,5 " head tube
- Wide 83 mm Bottom bracket
- Internal cable path
- Post mount for rear brake (accepts 160 mm small rotors too, mainly because we ride them)

We were not that focused on frame weight because we feel that there are better places to save weight, in fact 4,4 KG without paint is not that bad. We can go even lower with titanium hardware but don’t feel it as a necessity. When we designed the frame we focused on resistance to bottoming and being able to take big hits without going thru the end of travel. We focused also on stiffness in the front and rear ends. The frame is also slack with 63.6 HA. We have already built 4 prototypes in 2 variations - the frames on photos are last variation. The production frame will have modified rear triangle and linkage that pushes the shock. Except this there will be no other modifications. The frame takes any 240/75 shock.

In process of development we have partnered with polish companies like Weeze [weeze.pl]

The frame will be very competitive priced - we aim for a price range close to 850 Euro. Shipping to any country outside of European Union will add a charge of 90 Euro.

We have partnered also with taiwan frame maker, To be honest the public avaiblity of the first prototype of the design is an offspring of a fact that we didnt had resources to restrict it. Design was done mailnly here in Poland. The version offered in is an older revision of the design.

To gain more control of the design we decided that the shock linkage will be made in Poland. And of course front and rear triangle will be
still made in Taiwan.

In fact we had no other choice, because in Poland we dont have good

availbity of a hydroformed tubes neither good welders to work with. I have seen lot of Polish made frames that were poorly welded or the
producer wanted to squeeze last dollar by buying shittest aluminium he can get All of them were coming from prominent producer Zu ...... es.
The quality of a frame is our safety. Of course there are exceptions of above some companies like Weeze or Antidote do really high end products but they made enormous effort on sourcing materials and quality control - if we went that route we would have missed the price target.

Our products will be only sold direct through our website, meaning that we sell directly to the consumer. Please be aware that the frames will be available for order at the end of April, contrary to previous announcments - the rear triangle changes caused the delay. The ordering details will be announced then too.

For the 2011 season we have partnered with Jonasz Rozdzynski (Jonaszrozdzynski.pinkbike.com), who is 3rd Polish top rider. Jonasz will be testing our frame in Polish DH races. Jonasz was also
heavily engaged in frame development and without his invaluable help it would be impossible to finish the design of the frame. If you are interested don’t hesitate to check our website:

Well done EMES,and congrats,i'm sure this frame will be a DH privateer's wet dream all over Europe at that price point.Really, really well thought out and cost effective frame, ticks all,or at least 99%,of the boxes needed for a fundamentally sound DH frame set. Salute

 wow thats an awesome price!

the price is without rear axle and shock Smile but anyway i think it is competetive - the frame takes any maxle standard axle

how does it handle corners? it looks like it has quite a high centre of gravity
  • 1 0
looks like it has an ultra low bb, so probably does fine in corners.

still a good price, have i missed what the weight is?
  • 1 0
 There mint.
  • 1 0
It has a low bb, and in the final version we have moved the shock lower to help with cornering. I am not as good rider as Jonasz - He says that he had no objections to how the frame handles corners
