i've not tried a reverse stem, but i think there's some logic in the concept of having your hands in a more direct line with the tire contact patch (rather than being cantilevered out in front, which is the case with conventional setups). evidently it doesn't NOT work at the highest level of sport, so may be something to it. also indicative that humans are capable of adapting to a wide range of setups - ie, we shouldn't be afraid to ask "what if", and not be so timid with pushing numbers.
