Putting up my beloved 2011 Surly 54cm Cross-Check. I'm selling to help pay for a big move, and also not really doing much gravel or touring and my bike needs are changing a bit. I realize it's a bit on the pricier end for it's age but it is in excellent, ready to ride condition, with some pretty extensive parts replaced from the stock set. The most noticeable signs of age are the scuffs and the long-disintegrated Surly Decals. I took it in to a reputable local bike shop for a yearly tune up early April 2024 (this year!) and had them check everything, wrap new bar tape, etc. so it's in great condition. Last summer I put on a brand new wheelset, chain, and cassette on it, and it's been ridden a lot less in the past year; I doubt it's had more than a few hundred miles put on it in a year. Some residue of pollen dusting this time of year. 'Specs' (aka all the parts I have replaced or upgraded! Idk what the spacers/bb bearings are, etc. and the front chainrings and shift cables are all probably mid-grade stuff the bikeshop had on hand) - Tiagra 10sp integrated shifters, front derailleur, rear derailleur, 4700 generation I believe. - Shimano 105 11-28t cassette, KMC chain - Salsa Cowchipper bars, 42cm - stem to accommodate 31.8 bars - Tektro Mini-Vs - Gravelkings 700 x 35 (SKs? the knobby ones, a lil older and I'm unsure of mileage but tread looking pretty good) - Mavic A719/Deore 619 36 spoke wheels Has some generic wellgo pedals and a basic Giant ≈gravel/commuter seat. The Longboard fenders I had slowly disintegrated and broke, and the only reason I have not removed the final bit is it's still doing a pretty good job of preventing puddles from being thrown up in your lap, I can take it off for you but who knows maybe you'd just as soon keep it on in "this economy"? Pick up only in Chapel Hill, NC; I can meet you up to ≈1hr away though for serious buyers. **note: I will be living in Gaithersburg, MD in July-- if you're within that ≈1hr radius of Gaithersburg or live in an area I might pass through, we could also likely work something out! (**note these frames run large - I’m about 5’11”and would ride a 55/56 in other brands).
