And also they say there's no such thing as bad press. So if they want to get the word out on this product this is cheap advertising.

I'd be willing to be that Keegan thinks this is a great product but is playing coy hoping for some sponsorship $$. I suspect negotiations broke down, so instead of paying him they're putting out a bounty for someone to beat him. (probably for less than he wanted in sponsorship money.)

@atourgates: me too. Found my perfect shoe from Scott. 2 boa, pretty heavy rubber walking cleats, stiff enough platform for XC, and completely comfy. They're on their 2nd or 3rd season and shoe no signs of wear. I'm riding only 2-3 times per week generally around 30 miles per week (cali so all year around). So maybe thats why they still look fresh? They were $100-$150 when i bought them. The Vertec appears to be the most similar but is a bit pricier currently. These replaced a PinkBike editor's recommendation of a shimano shoe which i never liked b/c it was a single boa and a poorly thought out draw string for the toes. I regret purchasing those for like $220 or what ever they were. I only wear them on mud soaked rainy days.

@ChainsawDan: Counterpoint Chainsaw, riders need to train/ride on the tires that they race within reason. I'm not advocating going out and doing a training ride in the wet on Aspen STs b/c you wouldn't race STs in the wet. But you can't fear the tires you're going to race on and need to have some experience on them prior to race day. An argument could be made for training on heavier tires then what you would race on but you do need some experience on your race tires. Also as an XC rider rolling resistance is very important and 800 grams is in no way a competitive tire weight. Competitive XC race tires need to be in the 650-725 gr range.
