It'll fit into the clevis for sure. I'm not sure if the frame geo would be a good fit though. I already had my air shock lying around so it was a cheap thing for me to attempt. If it didn't work I could easily have gone back to the coil. I'm guessing that if you ask the right person they could tell you which air shock matches the characteristics of the DHX RC4 the best. I'm pretty ignorant about shocks and based my switch on the fact that they both had a piggy back shock so they MUST be close. Not the best method, but it seems to be working.
I don't know. I've only seen Fox shocks used with this particular clevis. But if the O.D. and measurement of the mounting hole match up I don't see why it wouldn't work. Unfortunately I don't know the measurements and can't seem to find any online.
I have a 2009 sx trail, and I'm thinking of going for the same mod to save weight, make it even more pedallable. I know that the geometry is different between the models, but i also found this pic of someone who's done the same mod to a 2009 model; http://www.vitalmtb.com/community/PARMAGEDDON,23864/setup,21391
It also seems he's used the same linkage. Am i right in thinking that its the linkage from an sx, rather than an sx trail?
It sure looks like he's using an SX link instead of the SX Trail link. The big difference is that the SX link is designed to work with the end of an air shock instead of the spring coil shock. I ordered a 2012 SX clevis linkage and it works with the air shock perfectly.
Not sure; it's been awhile since I've messed around with it. I know I have about 250 lbs of pressure in the main chamber, but I don't really know how many clicks in or out on the other settings. I'm pretty sure I set them in the middle and they felt so good I just left them as is.
I just got done setting one up with a DHX 5 tonight but haven't had a chance to really ride it though. I cycled it through the range of the shock and don't see any interference. The part cost $25 at my local Specialized shop. But I can't find a site that shows the exact numbers for the shock set up though. I'll call up Fox tomorrow to see what they say as far as how much air pressure and/or clicks out on all of the adjustments.
I understand you got the clevis from you LBS. I have a 2012 SXT and want to try to put in a Cane Creek Double Barrel CS Air on it. Could you give the info for your LBS and person you worked with? I want to order this part.
I went to Gregg's Greenlake Cycle in Seattle, but I didn't speak to anyone in particular. I just had them order the clevis for a 2012 SX and it was around $25.
