Ultra-wide rims on a DH bike?

Has anyone tried to run ultra-wide rims such as Derby or ibis on their DH bike? I would love to try them out but my main concern is strength-will they hold up to the abuse of DH riding? Anyone ever tried this before?

Mavic 729s are 4mm narrower at 36mm.
