Brandon Semenuk dropping off the start ramp. It was pretty windy most of the time so the start ramp didn't see a whole lot of tricks in practice, or even in the contest... The course started with this step down, then into a pair of fairly tight 20 foot doubles, followed by a vert quarter channel gap, then a roller and a smaller double, followed by another roller and a smaller quarter.
crowds of people drinking beer and watching mountain bikers throw a bunch of crazy tricks. It s hard to beat a sunny day in the harbor with a cold beer or 6 and some great entertainment.

Anthony was boosting easily a foot or two higher than most riders on the vert wall channel gap, and carrying a lot of speed through the second half of the course because of it. His best trick of the day was probably a double truck on the jump you see here before the quarter.
He also let it get away from himself once and hung up his back wheel on the top of the vert wall. Bit of a messy palm but nothing too serious...

This smaller jump in the second half of the course was a problem for a bunch of the riders. Mostly because if you made the tiniest mistake on the first couple of jumps and the vert wall channel gap you didn t have enough speed to make it. Anthony Messere with enough speed to tailwhip over it...

Montgomery with the best trick win for his 720. I missed it completely while I was waiting for the flair over the channel gap. When I asked him why he didn t tell me he was going to do it he said I didn t really plan to do it just kind of went for it all of a sudden He landed the 720 smoothly enough to keep his speed up through the whole course and throw a flair over the channel at the end...

You'll notice that his fork is bent in this photo, the last thing he tried was a huge flip bar hop, he got it all the way around but ended up 50/50 casing the landing and burying his chainring all the way to the bb. The forks didn't make it...

Event organisers Jordie Lunn and Geoff Pendrel, without these guys the event never would have happened. Click to play and hear Jordie and a few others discussing what went down at best trick...

Circus forks are actually quite good. And how many pros do you see riding on a ÂŁ270 fork? What you're comparing it too is twice the price. It's in the same price leauge as the DJ2.

Have you got a set? Can you like pm me about them if you do becuase im getting some regardless, i just want some insight to them.

And youll probably get a reply like 'why this when you could get 831's or argyles' or would you rather have 2 or 3 sets of these? lol

What an amazing weekend! Props to all the riders for putting on a great show all weekend long, especially the local boys. There needs to be more events like this on Vancouver Island, it was great to see so many people stoked on bikes, and it was great exposure for the sport in Victoria. Can't wait for next year, it can only get better!!

Yeah, and to bend that new crown like that, it took some srs pressure... The Circus is NOT an el-cheapo knockoff, and I'm glad to see him on it!

Yeah I was wondering about that, you're usually pretty on top of things... at this point in the week I'm failing to see the sarcasm in a lot of things, need more sleep...
  • 1 0
Appears to me you wrote your last message at approximately 10:08PM. That is late.... (not being sarcastic) I'm up way past my bed time Frown

 sick photos ian, love it

ye i agree , but 720 best trick!! sam pilgrim could do them with his eyes closed. i kinda expected more than a 720 the way this sport is progressing.
  • 1 0
yeah Sam could do them with his eyes closed on the same jump that Montgomery could them on with his eyes close. Consider for a moment that this was not an easy course to ride, and I'm not sure what other tricks would have beaten the 720. There were some serious tricks that went down, or almost went down, and in the end all the riders voted for the 720 as the win. That's pretty legit...
