Pinkbike.com takes to the road-Day 7:Still in Monterey California-getting sun burnt

Apr 13, 2007
by Tyler Maine
Its 1:15 am and I'm sitting down to reflect on the day that just past-lack of sleep is catching me and the sun burnt my arms today. Ah life is good when those are my only two complaints after Friday the 13th! Lots of bike stuff today-mostly a couple informative sessions, more cool people and parts, some rad DJ's/BOOTERS and a kick ass movie premier. Read on to see what all went down.Arriving at the Media Center today to plan out what I was going to do and what do I see? Nothing better than seeing our logo on Dangerous Dan on the cover of the Sea Otter Daily paper:

The first thing I wanted to do today was go see Doug Dalton at Cannondale as I had missed his history lesson on suspension the day before and he was going to be aroung and talking about evolution again today. Doug has been around the bike scene for a bit and he knows his stuff. Here's a look at the Cannondale DH rigs from over the years:

Time to wander the pits for a bit as I had a second place I wanted to be for lunch time-SRAM was having a 20th anniversary chat for us fine media darlings to attend. But in the mean time, lets have a look at more people and parts from the 2007 Sea Otter Classic:

Off to SRAM for a great lunch that was provided by World Bicycle Relief and to hear about what all is cooking in the SRAM Nation for their 20th year in making the goods that are winning races in all desciplines. There will be more on the whole media gathering in the coming days, but here are a few pics to tie you over:

The Vivid is going to do things for the rear of your bike that the Totem and Lyric have brought to the front of it. Super tuning at your finger tips and that plush Rock Shox feel.

After lunch, the sun was high in the old sky and putting the slow burn onto any skin that one may have missed while applying sun screen. Time to pull that hat down a little lower and try to stay under the canopies for the rest of the afternoon.

Expect a lot of podiums from this bike this season as I hear that its owner is quick

On the way out of the fair grounds Radek and I stopped by the Red Bull / SRAM Furry Fury venue to see what the riders were up too. Each the wind died down another otter would jump. It is so nice to see a real, well built set up at the Otter, after so many years of having to deal with mud bogs. I hope that the weather holds out and that the general public gets to see a show that they won't soon forget.

Tonight I got to go see the premiere of Clay Porter's new film-Between the Tape with a bunch of great friends from Alberta. It was a full house and the film did not dissapoint in the slightest. It had all the sick great race footage that we love, but also seeing a lot of those top racers at their own back yard areas added a great touch. Expect to see the movie hitting store shelves in the coming months.

Check out all the Sea Otter pics HERE.

See ya tomorrow!
