You may have seen our close look at DMR's prototype Bolt slopestyle rig earlier today, but they also had some brand new pedals on display as well. The Vault pedals are quite a departure from what we've seen from DMR in the past, have a look inside to see all the photos and details!

DMR's new Vault pedal. The Vaults are set to be DMR's premium pedal, being both thinner and lighter than their previous designs. Don't panic, the classic V12 and V8 pedals that many of you know and love will still be available, but the Vaults will be taking it to the next level. When looking at the Vault from above it is easy to see what Tom was explaining in the video about the pedal shape. When your foot is on the Vault the widest part of the body will be directly under the ball of your foot, behind that point it tapers down slightly where material isn't needed. Not only does this make for a lighter design, but it also means that the leading edge of the underside of the pedal is less likely to strike anything as it is smaller than the upper deck that your foot is resting on. Clever work.

While there are lots of pedal options available that feature a concave foot bed, the new Vault uses a double concave design to cradle your foot even more. Not only front to back, but also side to side as well. The majority of the pedal pins thread up from the opposite side via allen key heads, with the center four of each foot bed being set screws instead with the intention of them not tearing up your soles as much due to all your weight being focused over the center of the pedal. The body turns on a combination of a sealed bearing at the end of the axle and a high load bushing closer to the crank arm.

Not only will there be loads of color options, but you'll also have to decide if you want the standard steel axle or the more expensive and lighter titanium option. The ti option should come in at around 340 grams, a good choice for you weight weenies.

£90 for the basic cromo axle pedal... they'd best be good. Lets face it, V8s/12s were sh!t. They had a tiny tiny uncomfortable platform that your foot tended to wrap around rather than rest on... These look bigger, but it'd be interesting to see how they feel and just how much bigger. I don't think I'll be buying any though, based on price alone. Whats wrong with Nuke proofs, superstar, shimano, funn, crank bros etc for a LOT less money, hell even straitline are gonna be about the same price!

i think these pedals look pretty well designed easy to work on and being dmr replacement parts should be easy to get a hold of just have to see if the bearings and bushes hold up but they are pricey although doubt you can get a pair of pedals that will last any decent amount of time for less except maybe the superstars which is what im planning on getting next just outta curiosity really

Much thinner, and you end up with a pedal that's too FLAT. I'll gladly trade a bit of thickness for the concavity that these pedals have.

 dirtbagbiker,

Retail pricing is in the video.

xxirocxx,

The platform is massive! It looks to be much larger than the V8/12's.

dirtbagbiker... he mentions the price in the video, about 90gbp for the cro-mo axle option, or an extra 70 to 80 to upgrade to ti... so 90gbp to 170gbp... silly money.

dmr products suck in general anyway.. i won't be buying anything they have designed
  • 1 0
That's not entirely fair. As far as dirt jump kit goes, it's not bad on the whole... Distinctly average. The problem they've got is that they at least seem to be quite slow at developing new kit, so by the time their new parts come out it's about 2 years behind everyone else. Unless there's something significant I've missed?

I think DMR have a lot of good products - the 898 frame, the OW fork, there newest hubs, the squid saddle, the cult cranks and the current DMR pedals arn't bad at all.
