4X ProTour Round 5 - Malmedy, Belgium

Saturday 5th September sees the 4X ProTour move to Malmedy in Belgium for Round 5 of the 2015 Series. Malmedy will host the 2015 4X ProTour finals after four rounds previously that have had four different winners in the men's and so much drama in the women's. This 4X ProTour has already visited Winterberg, Fort William, Szczawno ZdrojVal and Jablonec and now the World's finest riders will race in Belgium at this great bike park. The track in Malmedy will offer a new challenge to our riders. With the track being the longest in the circuit, it is rough, loose and steep. It does not have the biggest jumps but it will be high speed and there will be a lot of passing, that's guaranteed.

In the women's, Helene Fruhwirth has already sealed the title up but the battle is still close with four women battling for 2nd overall. Michaela Berakova, Eva Brauer and Nat Piwowarczyk have less than 90 points separating them with 250 points up for grabs. With confirmation already that all the top riders from Belgium, Germany and Britain, the women's racing will be amazing all weekend. In the men's, the battle is still very much on for the overall title. With the best 4 rounds from 5 counting towards the overall, every rider will have to drop their worst result which makes things very interesting. Quentin Derbier is currently on top of the standings ahead of Scott Beaumont, Hannes Slavik and Simon Waldburger. With Beaumont missing the last round in Jablonec, he has a zero point round to drop and that makes the racing on Saturday really interesting.

It's going to be action packed on Saturday so if you are in the vicinity of Malmedy, we can guarantee the fireworks will be flying. Check out Pinkbike for the video highlights after the race.

Schedule:

Friday 4th September:
Practice: 17.00 - 19.00

Saturday 5th September:
Practice: 11.00 - 14.00
Qualifying: 15.00
Race: 18.00

The full race report will be live immediately after the race. Who is your money on? See you trackside.

OK so you just put any description instead of "during round 3 of The 4X Pro Tour at Sunny Meadows, Szczawno-Zdroj, Poland, 18July,2015, Photo: Charles Robertson" as original description says.

I just found this one so you can see the track. This is a very long track as you will see. Lot of jump, big turns and the end in the whoops isn't easy !

Pinkbike seems to treat the ProTour like the redheaded stepchild...

I don't think so, there's usually more coverage here than other outlets. I wish 4x was bigger, especially here in the states, but I'm afraid E-word is getting all the limelight.

That may be true but the coverage on here used to be a lot better. The 4X stops used to get the same pre/during/post type of coverage you'd get from all the DH and freeride events. If we're lucky we'll get to see a short recap video that was made using one camera but consisting of the same angles for the entire video.

I LOVE pinkbike and the Worldcup write-ups are very well put together. I just wish 4X got even half that much love. But then again 4X is a dying sport. Hell most kids here in the US have probably never had the joy of gated racing like we did growing up :/

This was mentioned on another thread couple weeks ago, a pro photographer basically sated that the media tent shrugged their collective shoulders when told the 4X race was on, in other words they were not interested in covering it - so, if they have no official instructions from their clients, Pinkbike, Vital, Dirt rtc, and no interest on a personal/professional level then it aint getting any exposure - shame
