2014 Welsh Champion and Pearce Cycles Dh Champion 13/14. Shaun Richards rips some secret trails in South Wales, training for the 2015 season. Flat out, loamy trails...What more do you want! Shaun has competed in a number of world cups in the past two years as a junior rider - now moving up into the elite field of riders trying to make a name for himself across the world as an upcoming ripper amongst the big lads, he's had a few podiums in the BDS this year too making him a one to watch for next season.

"The only support I get is from 5.10, apart from that it's all funded by Mam and Dad, without them I wouldn't be here at all!! Everything has been off our own backs and it's only hard work and determination that has got me to where I am today"

Shaun has been working flat out this season, races, training the whole lot and has taken this into his training for 2015. Working harder, getting stronger, fitter and more determined for next year.

What got you into the sport and racing downhill?

Well I have been riding bikes since about three, been riding DH on the hardtaill back in the day and did my first DH race on a borrowed bike and won, that's where it all came about! Thomas Owens introduced me to this form of 'racing' as you call it, and yeah took off from there and here I am today, living the dream.. Well almost!

What is your ambition for the future and how are you going to reach it?

Ambitions for the future.. To reach and achieve at the highest level of Dh Mountain biking. But as far as I'm concerned I'm just racing my bike to get to the TOP and I'll do whatever it takes.

I like his style. Clean and smooth. Not one berm exploded, throughout the entire video. It looked like he was actually going fast, rather than trying to look like he was going fast. We need more of this sort of video on pinkbike.

Also, nice bike Razz

This lad lives across the road from me, I train with him from time to time, and I can tell you he is FAST....VERY MOTIVATED....and he WILL be a big name on the scene in the coming years!!! He deserves a closer eye and some serious backing to prime him for the big league. Come on sponsors. Check Shaun out, #oneforthefuture
