Thanks Tyler! So glad my work order landed on Anton's desk and I didn't just get another boring Klunker. It was late for Christmas and arrived all dirty though... I wonder why?

is there only 1 suppressor on PB?

Production bikes have not yet landed. I'm riding a proto.

 Needs a pike!

I thought long and hard about that one. Lyrik is 170mm travel, a bit taller, and stiffer. I do quite like the more travel and height. I doubt I would find the Pike "too flexy" to do the things I do, but I know from personal experience that the Lyrik can withstand everything I can throw at it in 2 years of riding. I might find I "use up" a Pike in that time. I'm going for long-term huck-gnar-smash-KOM-hunting with this build.

Plus it is easy to throw the pike damver into the lyrik, so why get a pike?

That's an intriguing proposition @taletotell but the Mission Control DH damper never did anyone wrong either!

Forget it... you'll lose 10mm of travel and probably bring the front end down... Avalanche cartridge is the way to go if you change anything.

Am I wrong to think the charge damper has no influence on travel? I assumed it worked like the mission control damper.
  • 3 1
YES... you are very wrong. There's a lot different between the two dampers/cartridges... it's not like all they did is change the name and design an entirely new fork for shits and giggles.

The only similarity is the 35mm upper diameter and possibly the seals, plus they both offer suspension travel.

Your presumption makes you look like an ass. I never said the design was the same. Think of it like a car. You can pull a vortex v6 and drop in a v8 without the engines being identical. At least until now most of the single crown dampers have just dropped in the top of the damper side. Mission and motion, 35 and 32. I knew the boxxer charger was different, but I have not seen the pike's damper until just now. Even so, the tube that connects the rebound to the compression damper could certainty limit travel, though that is not obvious since the rebound rod from the lyrik is certainly longer and likely would fit the rebound plunger from the charger. I suspect the lyrik will have a charger soon enough, and it is possible the boxxer charger could fit it. In any case, the open bath of the mission dh is pretty awesome without spending the money on a charger.

As soon as you wrote vortex v6 I knew it was a lost cause...But I'll try one last time.

Please do a little search on the subject and familiarize yourself with the charger cartridge. Also note that the pike has asymmetrical lowers on the cartridge side.

You made some pretty bad assumptions and did nothing but make YOURSELF look like an ass, please avoid trying to think otherwise.

I made no presumptions other than: 1) you know absolutely nothing about the charger cartridge, and 2) you know nothing about a pike vs Lyrik chassis...

Please stop while you're behind and let everyone enjoy the awesomeness of Matt's Suppressor...
