im missing an angle set (got a king in there for now) a wip it cap so i can rout the front brake through the headset and a cane creek double barrel air.
it amazes me how many idiots there are on pinkbike! every bike doesnt have to be top class and biking is all about having a good time and riding with mates. so stop putting shitty comments like: " You say "nothing but the best" but you have a Shimano drivetrain on it. So you're a liar" Seriously guys, who gives a f*ck?! About what rear derailleur you have and how you have your cables. and whoever says otherwise is an absolute bell end.
i love your bike. i think its perfect, don't let those other guy get to you and tell you what you can and cannot do.. go ahead put the brake through the head set, it would look even more sick!
To all the haters around here: a honest f**k you! Why can't you just STFU? This bike is neat, great paintjob, great parts, etc. Not everybody can afford the lightest and strongest parts on the market. Who the f**k cares if he bike is heavier with 50g due to some insignificant details? Great bike dude! I love it!
If it stands for that, why does my drivetrain work flawlessly? 90% of my bikes have been running SRAM drivetrains. The only issues I've had with derailleurs have been with Shimano. Plus who runs a medium cage on a DH bike? It looks ridiculous. X.0 DH is the way to go.
Cool story bro. I've had an X.9 derailleur on my bike for over a year with no issues. But then I always take care of my components and check it mechanically before every ride so maybe if you were nicer to your parts they would last longer.
I have snapped shimano xtr also, it happens...if it is brand new like you say, take advantage of the warranty that i'm sure they offer, I have a new xtr derailleur sitting in my drawer right now because of it.
It's true. Both companies offer amazing warranties. If my SRAM derailleur broke, I wouldn't renounce SRAM's name like a little bitch and run crying to Shimano.
Many things could have contributed to the "failure" of your derailleur: improper chain length, a burr on the chain or chain ring, a bent link on the chain, poor chain line or chain guide alignment.
I think the point is that both companies fail at times, I was disappointed when my xtr snapped, I was disappointed when my xo's pully locked up...I have not developed to a point in my derailleur owning life where I swear to either company, currently I am a fan of both companies and understand that I will run into issues (that can be easily fixed through things like warranties) when I ride my bike.
ive seen far more broken shimano then sram i broke a saint literally just pedaling down a trail doing nothing and i have smashed the shit out of an x-9 and it is still going strong.
I have had the same rear X9 derailer passed down from my norco hardtail to the Specialized 2011 Demo that I ride now. It has been through 2 weeks in whistler and riding in all of Fontana's races last year. Dunno how it has managed to survive but SRAM pretty muck rocks
k i've read this entire convo... all drive train set ups fail sometimes. it happens, when your riding a bike down a trail over gnarly shit.... get over it. atm i have had both companies on my bike, from that time i have judged that SRAM is a far better shifting experience. it super crisp and works every time. i found that the saint that i had kinda clanked down not to smoothly. still perfectly fine just not quite as good as the X9. both companies have flaws, like for example, the saint brakes are insane, and the avids are good to but saint is a bit more solid.
but, everyone has the opinions, just thought i should put in mine
you are all wrong, my LG1r cranks are over a pound and a half lighter and 100% stiffer. the best of both worlds , granted the hive BB's suck but what ev there like 30$ and as for the brakes. yes the saints are better then the RXs but if any of you dun f*cks have run the top of the line Formulas you would be saying shit. dont be but hert you dont have the $$$$ to fork over on italian brakes. THERE THE SHIT!!!!
I think I know the solution to this argument: Everybody just shut the f*ck up and stop arguing about which brand is better, there's no use because neither side will win. I think we can all agree that everybody has their own opinions and there's no changing that.
@seraph ive seen you comment on so many pictures. you think you know, but you aint know shit, just shut your mouth and stop acting like you know about everything. just because you work at a trek dealer doesnt make you special
I think you mean "don't know", not "aint know". "Aint" is a bumf*ck redneck slang version of "are not". Also who the f*ck are you? Have we met? Yeah I didn't think so. Have a nice life.
ooo so now you know about redneck slang, well its not redneck, rapper and music artist's say it all the time, but you should just knock it off thinking you know everything. dont make stuff up.
Kid, I'm 12 years older than you. That means I've been on this Earth 12 years more than you have. I think I might know more than a few things that you don't.
Also adding an apostrophe and an S to "artist" makes it possessive, not plural. Go back to school.
im just telling him that he should speak only if he knows what he is talking about. like a while ago he commented on brandon semenuk's bike and said " well since i work at a trek dealer, the bike will be out sometime in 2010." yeah because you know when the bike is going to be out.
Would you guys all just shut up and chill out? How bout you stop swearing at each other and realize that we all just love to mountain bike.
Also about that trek remedy slope bike. Who cares if he was wrong? Everyone makes mistakes, and brandon himself told me it might be released in 2010... But he didn't know, I guess they wanted to perfect the bike more. But so what, calm down about it. Be mature
wellllllll......... i got the van in the thinking that its like a mini 40 and im not going to lie its exactly how i expected it would. as for the shox i'm waiting on the shox i will be running 95% of the time the CCDB Air, but there only shipping shox for OEM sales but when they start doing singles my name is at the top of the list.
