Reminds me of the 90s when I thought it was ok to run a 1x8 without a guide and a 32t ring up front.

I really want to do this!! Any chance it'd work with a 9 speed shimano cassette?

due to cassette spacing? or the large jump between teeth?

Not bad at all, it is cobbled at the am because of the 9 speed cogs on the bottom.

Dialed, regular 10 speed setup. Added another link to be safe but shifts like a champ. Longer b screw and away we go!

Smart boy. Looking very much forward to hear how it works.
If it works well, it would be a great excuse to make something similar.

Don't you have a 10 speed cassette you can cannibalize ?
Anything below XT / PG1090 will do.

Or even easier. Use your 9 speed cogs, and just throw in some 10 speed spacers.

Check out shimano capreo cassette. Connects way different than a standard cassette.

Canfield micro drive hub, general lee adapter, a capreo 10 spd ring. Setup from canfiels and 3 cogs from a standard 10 spd cassette in the middle. Mid cage clutch drlr and n/w ring and you done...
