Polygon – Entering Europe Through Racing Support

By having freeride aces Sam Reynolds and Yannick Granieri under contract, last year Polygon, the leading Southeast Asian bike manufacturer took the bike scene by storm. However, in 2013, this name from the far east should become even more familiar within the bike community, as Polygon will now engage in Downhill and Cross Country disciplines as well as in Asian and African road biking.


In mid February an amazing team rider video confirmed one of the hottest rumors within the bike scene: from now on Polygon is the official bike partner of the Hutchinson UR Downhill Team. Australian riders Tracey and Mick Hannah, the current Downhill Junior World Champion Holly Feniak from Canada as well as France’s top DH rider Fabien Cousinié and Guillaume Cauvin all partner up with Polygon in 2013. This exciting development is sure to bring some fresh air into the World Cup circuit. This promising cooperation has already led to its first podiums: The Hannah siblings were unstoppable at the Australian National Championships, Mick sovereignly finished first in the Men’s Elite Class, while Tracey in her first race after a long injury break took the victory in the Women’s Elite Class.


Fabien Cousinié, rider and team manager of the Hutchinson UR team, is looking forward to the World Cup season prelude in Scotland’s hallowed downhill ground, Fort William in June: “We literally can’t wait for the beginning of the season. We have already had time to get used to our new Polygon bikes and we are confident that we are fantastically equipped for the 2013 season. These bikes are incredibly fast to ride and have great handling abilities. Moreover the close and friendly cooperation with Polygon has put in high spirits for the start of the season. We can expect to achieve a lot.” The feedback and experiences from the Hutchinson UR team will also help Polygon in future bike developments, especially in bikes featuring carbon technology which will be launched next year.


The bike brand from Southeast Asia also has big plans for their Cross Country division. Polygon will team up with the Orange Monkey Team for the next four years. The Polygon Cozmic RX29 3.0 29er bike, is the new official working equipment of the “Orange Monkeys”. We all will see them competing at some high level cross country races. However, the ultimate highlight should be the participation at the Olympic Games 2016 in Rio de Janeiro. The already existing team composed of UK riders David Fletcher (Men Elite), Ben Roff (U23) and the uprising newcomer talent Billy Harding (Junior Class) will be reinforced for 2013 by South-African Rourke Croeser (U23) and 20-year old Serbian Jovana Crnogorac.



Polygon is at the beginning of a promising season and has once again made positive steps to expand the brand as a global player within the bike scene. Besides its engagement on the European market, Polygon also runs a road biking team on the African continent as well as numerous Downhill and Cross Country teams in Asia: “We cooperate with the best riders from Indonesia, Singapore and Thailand. We have top road bikers from Kenya to Tasmania. Especially our Kenyan riders who recently received lots of exposure by referring to cycling as a sport, when Africa is traditionally dominated by marathon runners”, comments marketing manager Yustian Nimara on Polygon’s sponsoring activities.
