Ryan 488, that maneuver is called a whip. They are done intentionally. Well, most of the time, but I think the one in the video was definently intentional.
not intentional at all. watch as he comes down to the bottom of the hill and nearly hits his head to his right hand (too fast)... his weighting to the right side then induced the near death experience... looked great.. but definitely not intentional. Simply well controlled...
take a look at where he is aiming at when he "nearly hits his head to his right hand" : right into the tree... whats the only solution to avoid that? induce a "near death experience" as you call it.
as you can see at 3:00-3:01, his chest nearly touches the stem. This would indicate a serious unweighting of the rear end of his bike. This is what allows the rear end to come out sideways... if he had tried to throw that wip he would have pulled up slightly and twisted his hips.. none of this was done... please get back to me when you have ACTUALLY seen the video segment in question.
Honestly, there aren't too many videos that I simply had to watch twice in a row... Beautiful images, footage, music, and conveyance of emotion... crap... ok I'm in for a third viewing.... Nice work
yes it was an awesome vid..i almost cried because i want summer so bad and i am sitting at home being ill...even if i love snowboarding but summer... riding when its warm, hitting bikeparks with friends, having bbq and a couple of bears, sleep over and ride again the next day... taking the next bigger challenge and feel the slow progress you make..wtf this sport keeps my head feckin busy all day...
would need to see a vegetarian option for 100% amazing.
