The SCOTT Enduro Cup presented by Vittoria garners international recognition as Sun Valley, ID, (June 25-26) and new this year, Angel Fire, NM, (June 11-12) races are now officially sanctioned by the North American Enduro Tour (NAET). This acknowledges both races as qualifiers for the Enduro World Series (EWS).

The NAET is a feeder circuit for racers working towards the Enduro World Series, the premier international enduro race series. Of the six races offered by NAET, five have now been named official EWS qualifier events. Points from these races will count toward securing a spot in the 2017 EWS season. This year, NAET includes two races in Whistler, the Whistler Enduro Spring Classic and Fall Classic; two SCOTT Enduro Cup presented by Vittoria races, Angel Fire and Sun Valley; a race from the California Enduro Series, the Kamikaze Bike Games Enduro at Mammoth Mountain; and Big Mountain Enduro Series will host the series finalé in Mascota, Mexico.

A statement released by Crankworx Events Incorporated announcing the company's assumption of NAET, states— “NAET strives to provide the best experience possible for junior and amateur athletes in hopes of increasing the talent pool of North American all-mountain riders. It is a platform for the best riding and the top all-mountain brands on the continent.

"We are very excited to have Sun Valley and Angel Fire on the NAET schedule this year," said Ben Nelson, SCOTT Enduro Cup Race Director. "The new NAET and EWS qualifying format will bring a lot of benefit to our riders, as well as help grow the enduro scene within the Mountain West and North America as a whole. We are looking forward to working alongside some very talented race promoters and fantastic sponsors to provide the best days out racing a bike possible. It's going to be a fun summer."

I miss just being able to sign up for the EWS a couple years ago because I wanted to go have fun with my friends. I guess that's just the evolution of the sport/series though.

I believe you still can. Now you have to qualify to race in the Pro category. Ams can still race, just not in the Pro category. (From what I understand)
