Jun 24, 2026Chromag Doctahawk Medium - Near New w/ Custom Build!
$1650 USDHey PB, I have an amazing Chromag Doctahawk size medium for sale! This Canadian welded long travel steel hardtail is in near-new condition and rides like new - even with the 180mm travel fork and 29" wheels, it doesn't feel as ridiculous as you may think and has good trail manners and a nice upright climbing position. Whether you're riding Wanoga, Lower Whoops, Tiddlywinks, South Fork, Horse Ridge, or even Cline, this bike will make you smile all the way down! Its hardtail nature means it carries speed nicely when pumping and pushing the bike down the trail, and the big fork provides crazy confidence. This is a frame up custom build with a really solid kit and will fit riders in the 5'6"-5'10" ballpark well. I'm only selling it because I purchased the bike from someone who was a similar height as me who liked the fit, but after riding the bike a couple of times, it's just too small for me. I've just went through and tuned the bike, refreshed the sealant, installed all new cables and housing, along with new grips so the bike is truly ready to head straight to the trails with the next owner. If the orange accents aren't your thing, they could be easily swapped out to another color without too much expense/hassle. Here's a detailed parts breakdown:
Frame: Chromag Doctahawk (Medium, made in Canada)
Fork: Rockshox Zeb Ultimate (180mm)
Wheels: E*Thirteen TRS+ (29", tubeless)
Tires: Maxxis Minion DHF 29x2.5" (Fresh sealant)
Brakes: SRAM Code RSC
Rotors: Hope Floating Disc (220mm front, 180mm rear)
Drivetrain: SRAM GX 1x12 (New cables and housing)
Bars: Diety Blacklabel
Stem: Race Face Turbine (40mm)
Seat Post: PNW Range (150mm)
Dropper Lever: PNW Loam
Saddle: Spank Oozy 280
Grips: Lock-On (Brand New)
I'm located in Bend, OR - local pick up highly preferred and cash or Venmo payments only please. I'm firm on the $1,650 price, as this is a ton of bike for the money given the frame alone retails for almost $2k, and the rest of the build is worth the asking price on its own. Please call or text me at the number under the "contact" tab above if interested or with any questions. Thanks for looking!

Neuhaus Releases Production Solstice Hardtail
I've had one of the US made Solstice frames for the last couple of years and it has been a blast to ride! Nick and the team at Neuhaus are fantastic, and it's cool to see the Core line open this bike up to more riders at a lower price point.

Avinox Issues Statement on eBike Power, Speed, and Safety
I agree - even if the top speed a Class 1 e-bike can reach is 20mph, a bike with more power will spend much more time closer to that max speed (on trails that can be ridden at said higher speeds) compared to an e-bike that puts out about half of the power.
The fact they claim that unreasonable speeds can be an issue for both e-bikes and standard bikes is a ridiculous statement. Of course you can ride a standard bike too fast on a trail that is busy or has poor sight lines, but you can ride it even faster with a ton of artificial power.
It will also force other riders to recalibrate how they look at the trail in front of them. We all ride on some degree of blind terrain at decent paces and (should) always be thinking about the speed that is prudent to carry should a climber/hiker be around that blind corner chugging up the trail. If an e-bike is flying up that trail 2-3x the speed of a fit normal rider, the closing speed and time to react is now ridiculously different and therefore more dangerous. It isn't just e-bikers that need to be cautious, because they're going to be riding around the rest of us who aren't necessarily used to/expecting someone to blast through terrain at crazy artificial speeds.
While I'm firmly in the camp of believing that the sport of mountain biking involves pedaling the bike up the hill yourself (for the able bodied that is) - I see the benefit of e-bikes for some riders and the appeal of unlocking more descents with little effort. Unfortunately "most" people seem to want one for the reduced effort and higher speeds, and the slope on access/user conflict is going to get exponentially more slippery as we live through the cycling horsepower wars.

First Look: Arid Spade - One of the Most Adjustable Frames Out There
It has been cool seeing the iterations of this bike over the years - stoked to see it hit the market in production form! I hope to get to swing a leg over one eventually.

Jan 28, 2026Santa Cruz Hightower AL R - Fully Serviced!
$1500 USDHey PB, I have an excellent Santa Cruz Hightower AL R size medium for sale! This is the ultimate do-it-all trail bike with a 150mm fork and 140mm of rear wheel travel paired with dual 29" wheels. It received a Level Three service at Pine Mountain Sports, which includes a fork and shock service, full frame disassembly, brake bleed, and a service of every bearing on the bike in early 2025 and has only been ridden a few times since. That service runs $550 in labor alone, and you can rest assured this bike rides very well! It has miscellaneous paint chips from normal use, but is very solid overall and needs nothing but you and your favorite set of pedals to hit the trail! Here's a parts breakdown:
Fork: Rockshox Yari
Shock: Fox Float Performance DPS
Wheels: WTB ST i30
Drivetrain: SRAM NX 12 Speed
Brakes: SRAM Guide R
Dropper Post: Race Face Aeffect
Saddle: WTB Silverado
Cockpit: Bontrager Elite Stem / Specialized Bar / Brand New Grips
Tires: Maxxis Assegai Front / Maxxis Minion DHR II Rear (Fresh Sealant)
Local pick up in Bend, OR only - cash or Venmo payment only. I'm firm on the $1,500 price, as this is a ton of bike for the money (and it has been fully overhauled). Send me a PM if interested or with any questions. Thanks for looking!

The Good, The Bad, & The Ugly: Pinkbike Editors' Setup Quirks, Hacks, & Superstitions
I find that I'm fairly picky in regard to bike setup, not necessarily in terms of taking specific measurements for each part of the setup, but in getting things to "driveway comfortable" and then adjusting slightly during the first handful of rides until I've found my goldilocks position for each bike and component combo. I will say, it is always kind of annoying when that one buddy can hop on a random bike and proceed to ride it like their own with minimal setup right from the first pedal stroke - I have no clue how someone can adjust to completely different platforms without somewhat dialing it in and getting to know it first.
On another note - I wish Shimano wouldn't gatekeep the wider integrated shifter adjustment range to high end brakes. The difference in shifter adjustment range on an IS-EV XTR vs. XT/SLX vs. Deore is wild to me. I can make my XT setup work just fine personally, but know that doesn't mean everyone can, especially when you get down to the minimal Deore adjustment range.

Revel Bikes Moves Headquarters to Golden, Colorado
@Bro-LanDog: I don't think anyone is calling Golden/Denver affordable or plentiful compared to many other places in the country, but compared to Carbondale... there's no disputing that Denver has less expensive housing options.
