Freehub s Pisgah Photo Book Release Party

On Oct. 2nd, we celebrated the upcoming release of our Pisgah Photo Book with a party in Asheville, NC. We wanted to give the fine folks of western North Carolina an early peek at the Pisgah Photo Book and also raise money for the trail building and advocacy groups that have helped create such an incredible mountain biking community. Our photo book aims to showcase the abundance and variety of trails in a specific location, and while we are a Northwest-based magazine, we pride ourselves on covering all aspects and areas of mountain biking. Pisgah was a standout when it came to looking for a location, and between the few people we’d met and the stories we’d heard, we couldn’t wait to explore. This is the second photo book that we’ve published, and the first time we’ve ever had an official release party, so we naturally headed back east to celebrate with good beer and good people.

Even as the rain and wind from Hurricane Joaquin picked up, mountain bikers continued to flood the Smoky Park Supper Club. By the end of the night, we had raised $5,250 for the Pisgah Area SORBA, Northwest NCMBA, and the Boone Area Cyclists thanks to a $2250 donation from Trailforks.com and funds raised at the event from the cover and raffle tickets. The raffle prizes were generously donated by New Belgium, Transition, Industry Nine, Cane Creek, and Trailforks.com. We want to extend a huge thanks to everyone that came and made the event such a success. There is clearly a strong and passionate mountain biking community here, as evidenced in the people that helped our photo book come alive, and those who came out to support. Thank you for welcoming us into your community, and we're proud to work with the brands that we have to give back to the local trail organizations. We’ll be back.

Freehub Magazine's Pisgah Photo Book (Issue 6.3) hit newsstands on October 13th or you can sign up for a one-year subscription and we'll mail it directly to your door. Subscribe here.

New Belgium had the beer flowing and between the cover raffle sales and a generous Trailforks donation we raised 5 250.

Mountain bikers know how to have a good time and even though Hurricane Joaquin was starting to roll through the good vibes were at an all-time high.

Cheers to Ranger Wes one of many New Belgium employees that came out to celebrate.

The crowd was stoked as the raffle started to get underway. Everyone was hoping they d be the one riding some fresh wheels home.

Freehub Operations Manager Tom Clark drawing tickets and calling numbers.

Michael Hakala from The Tacoed Wheel.

Another stoked winner.

With hundreds of raffle ticket sold odds were slim but this lucky lady was the proud owner of a new New Belgium cruiser at the end of the night.

Jen Stampley getting stoked to give away the Transition Klunker

It s not every day you win a brand new bike... Party on.

To the lady slamming that beer in the fourth pic...

Hey, how's it going?

Hahaha, that's pretty much everyone's reaction to her! That's her husband to the left making the funny face over dude's shoulder. They are both some of the nicest people you'd ever meet and homegirl is an absolute beast on a mountain bike too.

The Klunker is so bad ass

My buddy got drunk last year and ordered one. We quickly found out that there is a reason mountain bikes have evolved so much. Not to say that klunking doesn't have it's place... But it's more of a once in a year kinda event, than anything you'd ever want to do frequently.

@bikekrieg Speaking of being drunk; this bike would be perfect for those drunken rides on the non-mountainbiker bike paths. Beer in one hand and klunker in the other. You know?

I just popped my Pisgah/Dupont cherry last weekend, the scene there is just insane. The people there make that area as good as it is, lots of dedicated folks that make the riding what it is. Props.

Bush League? You should see the brewery they're building. In fact you probably can see it, from your house, in Hickory. Props to Catawba, they make tasty product, but calling New Belgium bush league is ridiculous. 26 for life
