Sunday started a little slower on the barge. Riders trickled in a few at a time, and the spectators did the same. The beer garden slowly filled up, the riders finished their practice runs and the course received a final sweep and watering. Unfortunately the blue skies of the morning turned grey in the afternoon, but the only thing that suffered from it were the photos...
Here is a great video of Semenuks second run from Aaron LaRocque
The days trick list was fairly solid, not as truly impressive as some of what went down at Best Trick the day before, but the real secret to doing well at this comp was having a solid run and tricking everything. One mistake would cost you the run, so there was no room for taking unnecessary chances..
Reece Wallace with a big tuck no hander in qualifying. Reece threw in some solid tricks but lacked a good full run and didn't make the final
Scott Grant, tuck no hander. If anyone was an underdog here it was Wink, well know locally and a solid rider, he made it through to the finals ahead of a number of bigger names.
Brandon Semenuk with a huge 360 over the little jump on the back 9 during practice
Anthony, Casey and Chubey were all throwing barspins over this jump as well.
Mike Montgomery threw some huge supermans on the first jump, this one was in qualifying
Gully had a few solid runs, 360 over the first jump in qualifying
Mitch Chubey and Anthony Messere were both riding the new Morpheous bikes, and both threw barspins off the drop. Chubey on his first run...
Brandon out of no where with a sick one foot can over the transfer at the end of his last qualifying run. He got it fully extended, I just missed it, probably because it really wasn't something I was expecting to see...
Everyone was tricking the first jump fairly big, Casey Groves with a lofty tail whip on his first run.
Brandon Semenuk, 360 off the drop on his first run. Casey and Mike also three'd the drop.
Anthony tried numerous times to land a flair on the small quarter, finally made it on this one.
Chubey with a tailwhip transfer at the end of the course. One of the biggest differences between the top few riders and the rest was their ability to carry enough speed through the course to trick this final transfer.
Tyler McCaul going for a 360 downside whip..
Mike Montgomery threeing out of the start on his final run.
On his last run Semenuk decided to flip the drop...
Brandon Semenuk, huge 360 X up on his second run
Brandon also did a tail whip transfer over the last one.
Mike Montgomery, flip whip on his last run...
They built this portable tub on the deck of the barge but it wasn't heated. Semenuk into the tub, it wasn't warm...
Final Scores, no need to comment on the spelling mistakes...
