Event information

‘Ard Rock Enduro (40km lap, 5 timed stages) – Sunday 9 August 2015

The ‘Ard Rock Enduro will take place on Sunday with the opportunity to practice stages on Saturday. Five rally-style special segments will be incorporated into an amazing 40km (in country miles!) loop of the Scott Trial motor cycle territory around Reeth. Start times will be allocated before the event, but transitions are flexible and you can ride with your mates. You can expect to be out on the course about 4-5 hours covering around 1000 metres of climbing and descending. A cut off time of 5 hours 15 minutes will be enforced for safety and timing reasons. The ‘Ard Rock stages contain a mixture of flat out fast gullies and off road tracks, steep rocky chutes and technical singletracks that demand a good level of skill and fitness.

‘Ard Rock Enduro Sport (35km, 3 timed stages) – Saturday 8 August 2015

Taking place on Saturday, the Sport class is a touch shorter and a slightly less brutal version of the ‘Ard Rock Enduro. It will follow much of the same route but miss two of the most technical stages. The competition format is super relaxed and friendly, which means you can ride the whole course with your mates or partner, choosing as and when you tackle the timed stages at your leisure. You should expect to be out on the hill for several hours - 35km up Dale is no easy feat!

‘Ard Rock All-Mountain Challenge (35km single timed lap) – Saturday 8 August 2015

The ‘Ard Rock All-Mountain Challenge is a single timed lap that will follow the same 35km route as the Sport class on Saturday. Starting within a 30 minute window you can ride with your mates or go for gold against the rock strewn terrain and legendary Fremington Edge climb. You can expect rocky single track, swoopy grass gullies and flat out descending.

what's the actual event like? Just thinking about what the missus and kids can do whilst i'm pretending to be all enduro around the hills!!

It's the sort of event you do with mates! Friday bbq and beer, Saturday, riders breakfast , 5-6 hours slowly practicing the course then chilling on the campsite looking at bikes, more beer and bbq. Sunday, similar to Saturday but race pace should see you round in 4 hours and then lots of beer at night. Take your family if you want but they will be pretty bored most of the time

great event BUT SERIOUSLY when did pedalling round a course justify a charge of 54 ?

slate me all you want about private ground etc etc bla bla . mental pricing, but if people will pay it why not charge it

I did it last year, one of the best rides i have done in a long time, so much so doing it this year as well. £54 is not that bad when you can get two days of riding out of it (practice and race) and when most other race events are around the £30 mark.

just sunday FOR 54 isn't it mate - how are they going to run free practice when people are paying to race on Saturday ?

‘Ard Rock Enduro - Sunday 9 August 2015
40km lap with 5 timed stages - £54

‘Ard Rock All Mountain Challenge - Saturday 8 August 2015
Timed continuous 35km lap - £38

‘Ard Rock Enduro SPORT class - Saturday 8 August 2015
35km lap with three timed stages - £42

Get fit, ride both days, half the price. You have to have race plates (colour coordinated for race type) to ride and there is enough mashells dotted

@jmbrit instead of getting angry have a look here www.ardrockenduro.co.uk/news/30-2014-event-timetable all the info is online if you take the time to look for it, yes at £54 is more than most races but it's a lot more than a race, the course is longer, you ride both days, theres food and drink all night, live bands, sram/santa cuz demo's etc. it's an even and one you should try and do
although it sold out at 10am so people will have to go on the waiting list

It's a good starter enduro event, not as technical as the scottish or some of the UKGE rounds. But a great atmosphere, the wife is thinking about the doing the sport race on the Saturday, so looks like I'll be doing the sport race and the Sunday race!

Good to hear its in Scott territory, thats my main reason for entering just to get a better look at where I usually ride each October. Having said that, now I'm in I'm genuinely looking forward to doing my first ever MTB race. Best start training now

Great event & well organised, proper enjoyed myself last year, even practicing in the downpour on the Saturday... Managed to bag a room for this year so no cold wet tent lol!

Mike, Can you just do timed stages on Sat as in short cut it from one to the next or do you have to pick them out of the 40K loop as you plod round,
  • 1 0
The shortest route between the stages is to just follow the marked route. Unless you want to miss 2 stages out that is.
  • 2 0
There is not short cuts, you go up the hill to race down the hill followed by going back up another hill and then... you get the idea
  • 1 0
Hi, So its an out and back route then as oposed to a Circular route?
  • 1 0
It's a circular route but there is no way of doing short cuts to get to just the start points. For practice perposes you could doing stage 1 and 2 and then go straight to 5. Do a google view of reeth and you will relise how steep the hills are.

I know Reeth, My mate Has a Farm there, i've been many times. I'm at a wedding on the Sat and cant get up to view the course, might be a bit worse for wear if i have too much Ale the night before so i've changed to an afternoon start time.

  • 1 0
Done, last year was great, could just do with better weather
  • 1 0
I'm in as well, looking forward to it, I wont be there untill Sunday though so No practice for me, i think doing it blind is probably better* (For Me*) i'd rather not know although ive heard some reports saying that its pedally,
Best stay off the Mince Pies this year and get some mileage in.
  • 1 0
@mikekay.... whats the difference other then the extra 5km and 2 extra stages, is it alot more climbing etc.
  • 1 0
Next year is the first time they have done the shorter option, no doubt there will be less climbing, the main event is not that hard though as you get loads of time to do it with rest before each timed section. Riding the timed sections on Saturday is definitely better if you get the chance.

The weather was fine last year, I could have just done without the face plant. Waiting list it is for me....
  • 1 0
Problem, why is it only open to over 16 year olds?
  • 2 0
I'd imagine it'd be some Insurance related reason.
