The last of the snow has finally melted, the bike is waiting in the garage and that mountain biking itch is growing. It’s time to ring the bell for the new season and to look forward to all GraVity Card destinations. 14 bike parks in six different countries are waiting to be shredded by you. Every biker, who owns a GraVity Card, is well prepared for a whole season jam-packed with action and variety. The GraVity Card family welcomes two new members: Bikepark Brandnertal (AUT) and Bike Park Kranjska Gora (SLO). This year there is more choice than ever and everyone will be able to find trails fitting their skill-set from rookie trails to world cup trails on which bikers can follow in the footsteps of their great idols.

Everything started with the vision, that it would be great if bikers didn’t have to buy a season card for every park they visited other than their home spot during the biking season. This resulted in the birth of the GraVity Card in 2008. At that time there were five Austrian members: Semmering, Schladming, Wagrain, Saalbach and Leogang. This number has grown substantially over the years and now in 2016 the GraVity Card covers 14 facilities in six different countries and each of them has something special to offer. This has been recognized by the scene: in the beginning, there were 101 GraVity Card holders. Last year more than ten times as many bikers took advantage of the unique ticket, that gives you access to bike parks in many parts of Europe.

There are at least 14 good reasons to travel through Europe on your bike. The season commences in the middle of April, when the action kicks off in the bike park MTB-ZONE Geisskopf. There is plenty of variety at the facility near Bischhofmais: freeride and downhill trails, a slopestyle line and a course for children are only some of the many attractions in eastern Bavaria. On April 22nd bikers will be able to go shredding without any limitations in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia. The Trail “DH Veetranz” will play a pivotal role during the iXS European Downhill Cup and will challenge every one of the ambitious riders. Very soon GraVity Card holders will be able to ride four different trails and a family area. Shortly after the bike park in Winterberg, North Rhine Westphalia will open its doors and welcome GraVity Card owners. From April 28th freeriders, downhill riders and slopestyle enthusiasts will be spoilt for choice once again. All in all they can choose from ten different routes including a training course and a single trail.

After the first parks have started the season, doors open all around Europe in short succession. Brandnertal, Lenzerheide and Semmering commence their season from the beginning of May. The Gravity scene will be exhilarated by eight different courses and course variations as well as a Bagjump and children’s trail in Brandnertal in Voralberg. In Graubünden the Bikepark Lenzerheide invites riders to shred their slopestyle, flow trails and the World Cup track “Straight-Line” – definitely a highlight for everyone, who wants to put their bike through a stress test. 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) of pure freeride fun for all skill-sets can be found in Semmering in Lower Austria. The variety here also makes decisions very difficult: North Shores or single trails? There will be certainly no reason for boredom. Six more courses will be added by May 7th: the Rocky Mountain Bike World Jasná will start the lifts for the biking world. The park prides itself in having a trail for families and a downhill jewel.

By the middle of May two huge bike parks in Austria will open their gates for the season: Leogang and Saalbach Hinterglemm. Leogang offers nine different trails for a great variety of biking adventures. This season riders will experience the flow more than ever: the new trail “HOT SHOTS – fired by GoPro” is 3.5 km / 2.2 mi long and a biking roller coaster. But of course also downhill enthusiasts will be more than satisfied, thanks to the world cup track “Speedster”. Bikepark Leogang is directly connected with Saalbach Hinterglemm. There, four cable cars, four mountains and a 400 km / 250 mi trails network are waiting for you. The highlights include for example the Z-Line powered by Trek on the Zwölferkogel, the X-Line powered by Conti on the Schattberg, one of the longest and most unique freeride trails in Europe, the Pro Line & Blue Line on the Reiterkogel and the legendary Hacklberg Trail as well as the challenging Bergstadl Trail.

As the temperatures climb the choice of European bike parks to visit will get even bigger. By the end of May Wagrain, Tirol and Planai will open. Nine trails are waiting to be explored in Wagrain, Austria. Amongst these the challenging trail “Hard Rock”, which lies at an impressive altitude of 1,850 m / 6,069 ft., is ready to be conquered by the brave. Two tracks and a slopestyle area with tables, jump boxes, wall rides and big drops will excite freeriders in the Bikepark Tirol. Downhill riders will be looking forward to Planai most. The park is renowned for its world cup course, but also offers flowy freeride fun. Eleven trails including a kiddie’s park and a pump track will convince bikers of all ages.

On June 4th the nature protection period in the Špičák resort reaches its end and the bikers’ season begins. Thanks to the intertwining of tracks, reaching up to 8 km / 4.97 mi long, riders can try out many different styles in one run including DH, freeride, north shore and jumps. What’s more, the jump track for experts will be extended and extra jumps will be added over the cottage. Bikepark Serfaus-Fiss-Ladis will also start welcoming bikers to their eight trails, kids park, pump track, training area and dirt park from June 11th. The Supernatural Trail was only tested for a few days last October, so this brand new trail is waiting to be explored by you.

dang, was a bit downed by the price being above the magic 400...thats getting close to skipass prices.
But the I did some math...and I guess its still quite a bang for the buck considering the number of trails, tracks, lifts, variety and goddamn fun Wink

for the lazies - you need 14 days of riding to break even - given an average of 30EUR/daypass

and for all geeks out there heres some serious piece of investigative journalism:

Year Price Number of Parks Increase increase %
2008 € 320,00 5
2009 € 320,00 5 € 0,00 0,0%
2010 € 320,00 8 € 0,00 0,0%
2011 € 340,00 11 € 20,00 6,3%
2012 € 360,00 11 € 20,00 5,9%
2013 € 370,00 11 € 10,00 2,8%
2014 € 385,00 12 € 15,00 4,1%
2015 € 396,00 12 € 11,00 2,9%

Looks like a great idea, and there is a map on the website so could plan a road trip. Just a shame there isn't a 2 week pass that you can get so you can do a road trip spending a couple of days at each place you want to visit.

Me and 3 other friends also plan on doing a roadtrip while spending a couple of days at each place we are visiting, and the gravity card will make it cheaper, even with only two weeks.

The new Gravity-Card member bikepark brandnertal in Austria is a great addition ! The sound from the "mountain reggae radio" at the upper chairlift-station help you to relax before you go into the black lines Tschak Norris and Tschim Beam. The tracks keep your adrenaline at the right level ! The Gravity Card is a paid when you have a 3 week middle-europe holiday trip or when you riding only at the weekends all over the season !
