Video: How to Put Latin America on the Map in Five Edits

Jan 4, 2015 at 15:15
by Omar Salas
My name is Omar Salas, I'm a filmmaker from Chile, and it has been a great year!

After studying computer science, I decided to leave the my tie and days of desktop programming and professionalize the films that had been working since 2004, launching the "Radfocus" project.

Radfocus born as such in 2013, driven by my ex-chiefs of Lukkin (a Social Network for Social Good), they were one of the main drivers to take the big step out of my comfort area and be an entrepreneur. Since then, as a company, we have tried to put Latin America on the map and make it clear that we can also do things right here. I knew it would not be easy, even more for someone from south america in a such competitive area. This year, we traveled thousands of miles and these are our top 5 of our videos.

Santos, Brazil (77.5K views)

We received a great deal we could not refuse, to make videos for the first Urban Downhill Series would be epic. Working with Filip and Jana was a great pleasure.

Nevados de Chillan, Chile (74.3K views)

This year, we partnered with Montenbaik, who hosted the first round of the 2014 EWS. We opened the Enduro World Series and also we were at home. The pressure was felt but the audience awarded us greatly.

Valparaiso, Chile (62.9K views)

I have lived all my life in Valparaiso and I know this natural amphitheater perfectly and this was one of the first races I saw and it allowed me to enter to the world of mountain biking in 2004. It was love at first sight and that I try to reflect in each production.

Taxco, Mexico (50.8K views)

Taxco Taxco Taxco... Sounds like a Mexican hot sauce. It was our last video of the City Downhill World Tour and it was amazing to see the passion of the Mexican people for this kind of event. Thank you very much Adler!

Barbacena, Brazil (33.7K views)

This was an amazing trip, the last time I was in Brazil, was always close to the coast, this time we had to travel miles by car with my friend Adilson to reach the Pan American Mountain Bike XC and DH, in the heart of the country of Caipirinha.

(Bonus Track) Bariloche, Argentina (18.9K views)

Bariloche is one of the most beautiful cities of the Argentinian Patagonia. Open Shimano was our first Latin American championship and is open to everyone around the world who wants to race.

The next year, for sure, will be more challenging than the last and this is why, with prominent photographer Claudio Olguin and expert modeler and drone pilot Pablo Alarcon we have created Brap Media House, which will aim to continue to putt Latin America on the map with stunning productions like you just saw.

In this new year, I would like to thank all the people who believed in our work: Karl Burkat, Filip Polc and Jana Vasova, The Montenbaik Crew With Nacho, Eduardo and Matias, Rodrigo Medina from Nevados, Adilson Martins and Adler Sanchez, Martin Raffo and Christian Lopez-Jove, my friends and new colleagues Pablo Alarcon and Claudio Olguin and of course...My Family.

Thank you very much, without you, our audience, none of this would have been possible, Happy 2015!!!

Through the wonders of modern technology (google translate), I am able to convey my thoughts in spanishSmile

Salud!
Jaime

Omar: I think there has been a conspiracy, if they had released your video(s) earlier in the day, it would have made "Movies for yor Monday" seem like they were slacking off, so they waited until nightfallSmile
That was some fantastic footage, and you have every right to take pride in your coverage of these events. Thank you for sharing!!
And don't be shy about releasing more, there is an eager audience out there, waiting for more!! (Particularly on a cold (-24 C) winters day)

Cheers!

Loved all the videos. With the longest mountain chain in the world, South America had always been on my bucket list. And what an experience 2014 was for me.

Here's a link to my 5 videos (though not to put it on the map) chile, Bolivia and Peru.

 Tremendo trabajo!

Great work! It's great to have coverage of the lesser-known or local riders on such a great quality work! Mr, Wazaa you're ready for the big leages.

PS: I haven't seen the EWS video before- better late than never. I wasn't able to be there, but the edit transmits all the good vibe that's usual in Montenbaik's Enduro races. Congrats to Large, Nacho and Matias on such a great work
