I still have a pipeline well the rear triangle is cracked but i was riding it until last march and its not an xc bike infact it is credited as the very first true freeride bike fuck man i cant believe the drops they did on that thing back in the day though.
  • - 1

de simmons has been sponsored by rocky mountain for 13 years, tremblay
  • + 1
the pipeline used to be my favorite bike during those days !
  • + 1
@skybiker: haha dumb dumb....by the looks of things he was riding a x-country bike back then doing things you need a fully for.
  • + 1
@trade2ride: that is a fully bud
  • + 1
@ilikebikes1: @ilikebikes1: I realize that......just saying that a fully then is not the same as a fully now. i'm sure you get my point, lets not split hairs.
  • + 16
The good old days of the Rocky Mountain Pipeline!
  • + 8
Wow, sick riding, even by today's standards. Those guys back then were so damn influential.
  • + 9
nice old movie with godfather of freeride Smile
  • + 4
naw man im not old but this video still kicks ass it shows us how it all started its great without those days we wouldnt be where we are now i love all the old videos you always will find one thing in every oldschool video that would just like sketch you right the fuck out if you tried it and thats whats so cool they were doing some still really sick shit on bikes that were so much worse then what we are used to now. those guys had balls man
  • + 2
there was one guy man and he still rides and he is around his 40's now His name is( WADE SIMMONS) you should know who he is tard if you live in canada and are into freeriding, he is the god father of freeriding And one of the very few people that started this era of mountain bikeing. This guy will be remmeberd for ever and is a part of history he is a lot better now but he had a lot more skill than he had to show there becuase of the bikes, every time i watch it i respect this guy so much for what he has done to the sport and makes me want to be him. (long like the ledgend of Freerideing) (WADE SIMONS)
  • + 1
ahah fuck i mean SIMMONS 2 m's sorry
  • + 4
i remember my dad would show me these vids when i was like 10 and they still get me as stoked as they used to lol. wade simmons is the man! i think we should have a day of the week where and oldskool vid is vod!

  • + 7
 old schoolWink )wade rulezWink )
  • + 3
hell yeah that video and ride to the hills influenced me to buy a decent mountain bike and start jumpin off everything in my neighborhood. especially growing up in a place with no transitions.
  • + 2
I think wade is amazing, super smooth and stylish rider. And the 360.. that was awesome. anyone that thinks this video sucks can leave my mtb scene please (because your probably the people that annoy me at the hill and on the trails). bike are built for fun have fun and shut up!
  • + 2
nice vid i like it but hello pinkbike it has been old school
videos 2 days in a row? show us some new videos please, but it´s funny to look on ooooold vidoes but not so often
  • + 2
remember the days when you broke cranks and bottom brackets all the time? He breaks his bb twice in this segment.
Thanks to the industry for making stuff stronger over the years....I havent snapped a bb in quite some time.
  • + 2

  • + 3
Wade Simmons was and remains to be one of the greatest the sport has ever had. No one was doing that back then!
  • + 1
i second that...this vid was the reason i started riding...pretty much owe all my riding related life to that segment actually...wade inspired me....great guy too...ridden with him in whistler...
  • + 4
lol nice, wade is awsome...way to kill an elton john song though lol
  • + 0
that was wicked to see that again. when did that video come out? like 99 or something? you don't have to be that old to remember this video in all of its glory, i am 21 now and i got into downhill in my early teens when these videos were first making there mark. ride to the hills which came out a year or two after this is still a dope video by any means.
  • + 2
if that dosent make you go and get your old bike out of the back of your garrage then i dont no what will! amaizing pod. love it!
  • + 2
haha the good old days when it was all about droppin 15 feet to flats and breaking the bikes lol This video's making me feel like their's still hope lol
  • + 4
all the wade simmons haters he will eat u and this video is amazing
  • + 0
I remember seeing this and Kranked 1 and realizing that I now had a direction. I was into XC and a sort of street trials on an ultralite Gary Fischer XC bike without any riding buddies. The images that marked me the most were the kickpedal drops to stair trannies. Funny how things have evolved. Was that snapped bb shot also in Kranked 1 or 2?
  • + 2
Wade Simmons is still one of my idols....that man is the most fun to watch, and a solid/fluid rider too. SICK! Nice Vid!!
  • + 2
Funny how a year before those videos there weren't any freeride pros and the next year there were like 5 and now....
  • + 1
VOD that was some kick pretty awsome rider even for todays standards takes skill to ride that way with such a old school bike
  • + 0

its so awesome to see where freeride came from! the stuff guys are doing today probably seemed impossible back then. mtb has come an insanely long way in such a short time
  • + 3

  • + 2
wade simmons is my hero, godfather of freeride in the old school
  • + 2
Yeah this is why i started this man i love it. The Godfather...
  • + 0
man if i rode bikes back in 1999 and was as good as i am now I would so be pro. I'd just have to do it on a hella sketchy bike.
  • + 3
thats the difference between innovaters and those who just follow. You (or me or basically anyone else on here) didnt think to try that back then, we saw what was possible due to people like Wade and then tried to copy them as best we could. Its silly to compare to the past, imagine what Wade would be doing if he was a grom today? The groundwork would alrdy be laid and he would be pushing it to another level due to his abilty to see lines where normal people dont, etc.
  • + 2
Hes goin pretty fast at 103 seconds!!!
  • + 2
man those stair gaps he does, inspirational...

that video is from 1999 cuz that was the purple and yellow pipeline witch was the first model then they were grey and black then red
  • - 2
But the team had them in '98, and it looks like the same bike he rode in Kranked 2, so that would be my guess. Now I finally know where that sequence in the NSMB screensaver is from though!

it was late 90's. i use to have a black and green pipeline that i believe it was a 2000 and that purple and green one was a year or 2 older. i'd put it in 97 or 98 that it was filmed
  • + 0
 the purple was 99
  • - 3
not too impressing today, but at that time and with those bikes it probably was!
  • + 1
