Well, He knows how to bunny up with a cross country bike- wow
yesss that was beutiful! haha i know a guy that still has an old rocky mountain pipeline. what a rig!
I still have a pipeline well the rear triangle is cracked but i was riding it until last march and its not an xc bike infact it is credited as the very first true freeride bike f*ck man i cant believe the drops they did on that thing back in the day though.
shit loven the helmet and the part from 104-116..go fast and ride of a ledge...that how u do it
The good old days of the Rocky Mountain Pipeline!
Wow, sick riding, even by today's standards. Those guys back then were so damn influential.
hell yeah wade!!! one of the founders >
One of my favorite video segy's! Wade, showin the roots.
damn dude sketchy bike though
nice old movie with godfather of freeride

hell yeah that video and ride to the hills influenced me to buy a decent mountain bike and start jumpin off everything in my neighborhood. especially growing up in a place with no transitions.

FreeRIDE w czystej postaci!
FreeRIDE w czystej postaci!
How old is this video? Simmons did a 360 there, i haven't expected)
that video is from 1999 cuz that was the purple and yellow pipeline witch was the first model then they were grey and black then red
But the team had them in '98, and it looks like the same bike he rode in Kranked 2, so that would be my guess. Now I finally know where that sequence in the NSMB screensaver is from though!
Man I love old school riding.
Is Shift the film title? Anyone know where I can get a copy?
Is Shift the film title? Anyone know where I can get a copy?
ya shift is the title, and if you want a copy your probably only going to have luck at the local pawn shops, but first you will need to find a working VCR, that video is old bawls. I have a copy of it at home and im not going to lie, it still gets shown at least once a month in the summer
nice vid i like it but hello pinkbike it has been old school
videos 2 days in a row? show us some new videos please, but it´s funny to look on ooooold vidoes but not so often

video quality could of been better... but it doesnt matter, the video was really sweet lol
Yeah sorry. I only had this segment in cruddy compressed format from years ago when we were doing a promotion for the release of the film on VHS
Pre-dvd days...yes, it's that old.
talk about old school...
man that video may be old but if it was some one you didnt know like a kid you guys would have been saying thing rocked.i havent seen this video before and i was amased at the things he was droping on that.
yeaaahh! old school!))) give us more!!
my favorite rider of all time! wade simmons is just quality people! hes amazing!
Wade Simmons was and remains to be one of the greatest the sport has ever had. No one was doing that back then!
i second that...this vid was the reason i started riding...pretty much owe all my riding related life to that segment actually...wade inspired me....great guy too...ridden with him in whistler...
yeah good video
Old school rulez ~!
5" and canti brakes...thats an XC race bike by todays standards.
its 6 inch and it has disc brakes unless he just preferred to use cantilevers
Ahh..6". Take a look at 29 secs in. Notice the yellow coloured canti's. Those are Magura HS 33's.
WADE WOULD JUMP OF ANYTHING HAHAH STEEZE
simmons is our godfather of freeride !!
it was late 90's. i use to have a black and green pipeline that i believe it was a 2000 and that purple and green one was a year or 2 older. i'd put it in 97 or 98 that it was filmed
love it, that vid tells me more about how this guy can ride than everything I've seen yet
remember the days when you broke cranks and bottom brackets all the time? He breaks his bb twice in this segment.
Thanks to the industry for making stuff stronger over the years....I havent snapped a bb in quite some time.

not too impressing today, but at that time and with those bikes it probably was!
just as impressive today, what style! you're baked.
omg i cant even whatch this!
sell your bike and quit life...
its so awesome to see where freeride came from! the stuff guys are doing today probably seemed impossible back then. mtb has come an insanely long way in such a short time

i remember my dad would show me these vids when i was like 10 and they still get me as stoked as they used to lol. wade simmons is the man! i think we should have a day of the week where and oldskool vid is vod!
Seeing as how Im prolably as old as your dad, I'll 2nd that!! Old school is dead! Long live the old school!
that was wicked to see that again. when did that video come out? like 99 or something? you don't have to be that old to remember this video in all of its glory, i am 21 now and i got into downhill in my early teens when these videos were first making there mark. ride to the hills which came out a year or two after this is still a dope video by any means.
The forefathers....Thanks Wade fot making our sport what it is today!!!
I think wade is amazing, super smooth and stylish rider. And the 360.. that was awesome. anyone that thinks this video sucks can leave my mtb scene please (because your probably the people that annoy me at the hill and on the trails). bike are built for fun have fun and shut up!
Wade Simmons is still one of my idols....that man is the most fun to watch, and a solid/fluid rider too. SICK! Nice Vid!!
Wade is the man!! Period.
wade simmons is my hero, godfather of freeride in the old school
haha the good old days when it was all about droppin 15 feet to flats and breaking the bikes lol This video's making me feel like their's still hope lol
I'm 22, and I remember buying this on VHS when i first started to ride. Got me stoked then, gets me stoked now. Wade Simmons, Dangerous Dan, old school Ryan Leech, Chris Holm. right on!
Yeah this is why i started this man i love it. The Godfather...
ugh who ever did this song they totally slaughtered the original...
those are the roots
