this is a product review for the Epic Carbine HD1080 ---

2 words.

they suck

the camera, as far as, how the picture looks after you record something is fine... no complaints there.

the rest sucks..

my beef with this product:

1. it should sold with the water proof case they offer as part as the price (not something extra you need to buy).

2. no questions people... get with the times...make it built stock with rechargeable battery system not the lame AAA crap.

3. battery life is horrible ---
the video you're looking at is all it could get from the camera after 6 other short videos, no of them were more than 2 minutes long.

the stock batteries that came with the camera died within about 10 minutes of camera work.

What you're seeing here is about 8 minute of video taken before this short video showing that silly nice Transition Tr450 which has been pretty much flawless (unlike this lame ass camera).

I tried taking more video after l shot this but the thing would shut itself off about 2 seconds later.

The manual claims you can get 1 hour of video with normal batteries and 4 hours of video with the more expensive alkaline. Well, me... l have yet to reach the 15 minute mark with this camera.

Last l checked.. 60 - 15 = 45 ... they're about 45 minutes off their claim.
*** yes, l tested the batteries before using them.. they were full of juice.

 more-----.

My problem with the whole AAA's thing.. unless it's a TV remote, l hardly ever buy them and when I do, they often don't last very long no what they're in. Willing to bet, ant random store are going to have batteries that have been on the shelf for a while because most electronics these days come stock with USB-able batteries. even the simple Serfas lights we sell come stock with a UBS option.

Typical $100 camera has better battery life than this Epic camera.

Customer Service is pretty much nonexistent... l haven't called them yet but l have sent two messages using their support line on their website and l emailed them now 3 times --- zero reply to date. l have had the thing for about 3 weeks now.

just looking at it, it seems pretty nice. like l said, it does fine as far as the video quality..

l bought it just to test it out.. l was thinking about pimpin' them as a Pedal Shop product.

Well, you can get one from me if you REALLY want one but l would suggest GoPro long before buying one of these. it'll be -- a told ya so type purchase so don't come crying to me if you don't like it.

There's lots of products l have bought through the years sorta as a leap of faith, knowing maybe it wasn't going to be all that great based on other reviews l have seen.

MORE --- ******sorry the format is a little messed up pinkbike wouldn't let me write everything in one post....

There's a review on youtube where a guy is complaining about the filming quality going from light to dark areas. That guy needs to understand camera equipment GoPro does the same thing, most cameras are going to black or white out when you go from light to dark areas (and vice vs).

l did read a couple reviews that talked about the battery life.. took it as maybe these people were buying cheap batteries.

This product is no where near as good as GoPro and it doesn't even come with the clear plastic water proof case. all the little nick-nacks you can get are fine, no complaints there but, this battery thing really gets my goat. l have no plans on pimpin' this piece of crap as a Pshop product.

Sorry Epic people (if you're reading this one day). Your product sucks. l highly doubt someone from Epic is going to read this cause they're too busy doing nothing else at work other the

 .. finish****
They're too busy doing nothing else at work other than filling orders... once they get your money, that's it.

You might get lucky with yours but l'm willing to bet this battery thing is a big issues with most people. They have yet to contact me ...l didn't even get an auto reply that they received my notes. pretty disappointed with this product.

They need to redo these things with a USB option that has some battery life worth a hoot.
Getting out on the trail and having less then 15 minutes of battery life on one set of AAA's is really lame.

Then they gotta fix whatever it is they're doing at Customer Service.
