Before winter's over... I might have to make myself another set of home-made studded tires.
pretty easy, just grab a set up old tires ya don't really use... box of short screws that are just a tad longer than the tire is thick --- drill them through the tire from the inside, out. you only need about 2 or 3 screws for every couple inches of tire. cover the screw heads inside the tire with duct tape.
it helps to wear your best leather underwear just in case you slip and fall on the tire while riding.
it's a little Mad-Max-ish but, it works and waaay cheaper than buying a true studded tire.

Tether yourself to Daisy just in case you hit a warm spot..would suck to fall through get caught up in the current and have to look up at your dog through your clear casket of ice as you drown 32 deg water...sorry..
