lol; I could use a progran called twixtor pro to slow it down, I have made 24 frames a sec footage ramped up to like 300 - 400 frames a sec, but that just make new frames from your old ones. so it is not that clean. I would rather tuley shot the frames and play it with out altering the speed or blending of the frames. does anyone know how to make that sony shoot longer at 240 fps, like a hack or upgrade. I am trying to unlock the camera right now. but it seems very hard. I think I just need to try harder.

When I plug the camera into the computer, it comes up slow, I dont have to push any buttons to make it slow. No hacking yet. I am trying. it has not worked yet; I think I need to put the new data on a mem stick pro duo and transfer the new setup of the camera that way

so your capturing at 240 to your comp.. but the camera doesnt shoot at 240.. correct?

yes it only does it for 3 seconds so I have to make sure I am sniper with my filming

both of you are correct, freebord007: what happens is for that short amount of time it will record 240fps into it's buffer/instant memory, then when it's done after the 3 seconds, it lays it down in the on the HDD or HDV tape it records to in a slower frame rate (30fps = 60i, in this case, it would be 30p) so you are able to play it back (which will be in slowmo). It cannot play it back in it's original 240fps because the NTSC (or PAL 50i) system clocks at 60i (60i will hold 30p and 24p+2332pulldown insertion).

When loaded into your program, it will load it in 30p (or 24p, I don't know that camera), which means that 3 second clip is actually 10 seconds or something. From there (in the program) you can do what ever you want with it. If you do the math correctly: 240fps gives you perfect 24p (10% speed) and 30p (12.5% speed) without blending pixels, just make sure you're in the right settings. When I shoot 60i (HDV) for slowmo I jack up the shutter speed first, then in my program I extract the "60 frames" and apply 40% speed to that = 24fps).

Other note: in digital video 30p=29.970p 60i=29.970i 24p=23.976p, PAL does not have this dropframe issues thingy

This was a horrible video. Go ahead, neg me, flame me, whatever!

Over half the tricks were cut off before landing which means they weren't pulled. Nothing irritates me more in a video than doing that. At least show the full crash, then, you at least got something. A crash video is still better than a video that only makes it appear to be "good riding".

The whole thing was in slow motion, and had horrible horrible music.

Yeah, I never said anything about the video quality or the purpose behind it.
Rather just what the video is. It's cool he got new equipment and all, that just means better things are to come. I must beg the question though.... Why is this a VOD? Kind of my whole point. There was nothing in this video to make it worthy of any kind of spotlight or extra attention other than it is in high def and slow motion. so again, I want to put out that the VOD's must be randomly generated.

hey rattbones, just so ya know the camera does not record more than 3 second clips when in slow mo mode. what your seeing is a 3 second 240fps clip translated into 12 seconds of 30fps. I have the camera i know what im talking about. Perhaps do some research before u post about stuff u know nothing about. i agree that this shouldnt get vod but who cares if it did, the world is guna keep on turning.

That's not what he's talking about dumbass!, and I'm sure he could care less what the camera is and can do. If you watch the video each clip is clearly longer than 3 seconds. The only way you will get a longer clip out of a shorter one is by slowing it down. You can slow 3 seconds into 12 no problem, but for it to run smooth you need to capture more frames per second. This eats up a ton of memory. This is the case for ANY high speed camera. Just for shits and giggles I went and looked it up. Took two mins to do.

rattbones, this is one of those things where you cannot win no matter how correct your statements are (even though there could have been a nicer way to say it from the start). At this point, the best thing to do is to walk away.

And thanks to those who gave me "+ props" on my above comment concerning the camera works. The slowmotion feature on the camera is cool, but limiting. Note: never abuse slowmotion when making a bike video, I use it VERY little.

i will just clear this up i have the same camera, it record 3 seconds of 240 fps footage then slows it down into 12 second slo mo clips that is why some tricks look cut off, because it is only recording for 3 secs. so you dont have enough time to get it all in

thx man; you wait till you see what I just shot I am creaming about it right now. lol soooo money. you all will love it, I work for HSB now and Just did a shot with the red bull x fighters, if you dont know what I am talking about; I mean; top dirt bike riders gave me a private shot at there million dollar ranch. I felt like a king I was smilin all day and they where so stoked on it, this video is the video I made the day before the shoot with the dirt bikers just to get a feel for the camera, lol
