Now you guys have got me looking if this can be done on my Santa Cruz Chameleon, I hope so

Sorry, it'll only fork on frames that take an integrated headset, your chameleon doesn't.

Arse lol

I think it's so awesome on how we automatically answer "No" to some questions that we honestly think are true...like the Tapered Fork to 1-1/8". But, it just comes to show things are changing everyday, and one question that was a No yesterday is a Yes today.

Could you just get a FSA Pig and not use the top half.

That bike comes uses a (zero stack)ZS44 headset, though your bike came with a 1-1/8" steer fork and headset. If you replace the bottom cup with a 1.5" (external cup)EC44, you could use a tapered steer. You will also be adding 10mm to 16mm of space between your fork crown and the bottom of the headtube when using an external cup.

Thanks,

Hey guys I have been reading up on this topic & believe it is possible to do, only if u have a 44mm ID at the bottom of your head tube!
I myself have measured my Integrated head tube of my '09 Ibis Mojo at the bottom to find that it's 41mm!
Does anyone know if Hope, Cane Creek or anyone else out there makes an adapter headset that would permit me to convert it over to allow a tapered steer tube fork to fit?

Sorry to bring this back, but all who reply to this thread is wrong.. Reminds me of going to my local bike shop to ask this question and them insisting cannot be done and want to sell me non tapered fork instead.. I walk away .... It can be DONE. Providing you have 44mm headtube this seems to be standard for a 1 1/8 steerer.. And assuming its a semi integrated headset youre having now, you just need to change the bottom headset that accomodate a 1.5 .. I use a HOPE H-cup like this :

Your ingenuity could help me. Probably repeating what you said in your post but want to be sure.....
So I have 1 1/8 semi integrated headset and steerer etc..The interior Diameter is 44mm at rope and bottom. This is a race bike. I do have a Specialized down hill bike too. I just upgraded to Specialized carbon forks, unfortunately the eBay seller didn't realise they were tapered from 1 1/8 to 1/5 so now I won't to solve the problem. Anyway. So your saying a "Hope H" cup will do the job? Many thanks. '
Hope' you can help. Excuse the pun Smile

Sorry to bring back an old thread, but is there any adapters if your id is 34mm/ or made for 1 1/8 fork?

Short Answer is no.

Unless you know a machinist or can run a lathe. I have seen a picture of homemade adapter (couldn't find it after a brief search tonight), but it really lengthened the axle to crown, probably at determent to performance.
