Just bought the new 510 impact vxi shoes last week had a couple rides. I love them super comfy they grip better than my 5.10 Karver and weigh next to nothing.
looking for some stiff shoes to freeride in. No, I mean really stiff. I have been using clipless pedal on road and mountain for a whole bunch of years. I found that the stiffer (as in does not flex) the sole is, the better my feet feel. I even use clipless pedals on my freeride bike just because I am so used to them. However.....I just got a DH rig with flats and want to start riding with them but I am not going to use some wispy flexy shoe. Please, recommend the stiffest sole shoes you know.
I use Pearl Izumi's with clipless, which i have been on for 20+ years. In my BMX days it was nothing but Vans. I'm trying flats again and i'm leaning towards Vans again.
Amazon has fiveten Diddie Schneider trail building shoes for 40 bucks. Mid high top and full lace covering with stealth rubber. They stick to my pedals well enough and will probably get a second pair. I also have a pair of Vans Hi tops that work fine too, plus they are super easy to find here in NorCal.
Five-Ten kestrel Boa's. Carbon shank makes them stiff as a board and great for pedaling efficiency. I use them with Crank Bro's mallet DH race pedals.
Also have some five-ten Maltese falcon's which are nice. A little more give in the sole for when I'm gonna ride to an eating establishment afterward etc.
