Hello guys, I'm thinking about slapping a 160mm Durolux on Merida 140.. http://merida-bikes.com/en_za/bike/2013/6/Full+Suspension/One-Forty+3000 http://www.srsuntour-cycling.com/dstore/products/Forks/3605/DUROLUX/DUROLUX+TA+RC2+20QLC+26%22.html
Some information are: 1. Merida OEM fork is already 150mm travel adjust. 2. Rear wheel travel is 145mm 3. frame is size 19... 135mm tapered HT length... 68 deg HA for 50cm fork (crown to axle length CTA) 4. durolux 180mm is 56.6cm CTA, so durolux 160 should be 54.6 CTA... right? 5. will run a 35percent sag to compensate 6. will opt for travel adjust fork, but just asking if setting it 160mm most of the times would be too bad. 7. i prefer cheaper/ user serviceable that is why durolux is my choice...
I have done it already... less sag in the rear and more in the front... plush and ride well enough for me. But i think ive added 20mm from the oem fork. Because the relative c2a of durolux is 10mm higher.. not a stress engineer. But i think the longer headtube of the size 19 frame would make it stronger than a size 15 of the same frame. And its burly enough (AM) and tapered so it must be stronger at least than non tapered HT imo...bikes are overbuilt to their specs. And im only using it in AM. Enduro racing maybe. I gambled with it. Knowing that ill probably use it for not a long time.. merida 160 looks sweet for more agressive riding.lol. hope this helps.
