With the recent cold weather and a lot of snow on my usual trails I have been putting a lot of mileage on fire-roads and walkers trails.

Due to this I have had my sus locked out and found that with the small amount of play it is perfect for the terrain I have been covering.

From what I understand, the lock-out is really for climbing but my worry is if when locked, the shock can take prolonged trail chatter and the odd good bump from a pothole or rock, maybe the odd small jump?

I only have the one bike and don't want to damage the seals or lock-out mechanism, would it be a better idea in this case to up the pressure to give the same dampening effect when locked?

If you're worried about it than I'd crank up the psi and slow down the rebound to act like a lockout.

slowing down the rebound could make it pack down, how would that help?

Because all that extra psi would make the shock rebound a lot faster. So to compensate, slow down the rebound. It would only pack up if he wasn't changing the spring rate as well.
