Hey,

Just wondering what people think would be a better option.
I can purchase a Giant reign advanced 1 for $4400 AUD
or go with a Norco range a7.1 for $4200 AUD
or a Norco range c7.3 for $5120 AUD

My biggest saving is going to be with the giant reign however, I have herd people say Giant are crap.

What do you guys think would be my best option here.

Im looking for best bang for buck, pretty new to the enduro style of riding.

Thanks

I have heard people say that giant is great (myself included) and that Norco is crap.

The Reign is a very capable bike that soaks up everything downhill, can't comment on the Norcos

i guess it all depends on who your talking to,
given that the reign is a carbon frame for almost the same price as norco's a7.1 which is an alloy has me leading more towards the reign.

Cant say I'm the biggest fan of the paint scheme but

I have a 2015 Giant Reign Advanced 1ish (Pike Solo RCT3, Monarch RCT, Sram X1/Guide). I've been exceptionally happy with it - it rails downhill, still pedals well uphill, and is pretty light - mine is at 28 lbs with mostly SRAM X1 bits. The long and low stance does mean that pedal strikes are a fact of life in rocky areas on the east coast, but overall, it has me leaving my 130mm trail bike at home most days. I don't think you'll be unhappy with it. I've never ridden the Norco, but I have spent time on a Bronson and a Nomad, and I like the Giant better than both of them.

As far as build quality - my other bike is a fancy pants Santa Cruz 5010cc, and I don't think there is any difference whatsoever between them -- the Giant is at least as nice. It's certainly not "crap."

Do note that you'll need volume reducers for the shock if you weigh more than 150 lbs.

Got a killer deal on a Range so went with that, and never felt great on it.
Then got a deal on a reign so I flipped the Range and the Reign and I haven't looked back.
I am super pleased with the Reign, peddles great and takes all I can throw at it on the downs.

Glad to hear good reviews about the Reign, looks like I will be going for that.

I think thats gonna be my best bang for buck, given its specs.

Ill have to ask about the volume reducers at the shop tomorrow. Thanks for that.

there's a long discussion on the Reign here, should give you more opinions.

I have a range and I am super happy with it it is smooth and great on the downhill. Going up hill with the range is great it's a all round
good enduro bike.

O+

Keep in mind that the new 2018 reign is a completely new bike than the 2015-2017 bike. It is even longer, has a new, repositioned (now one piece) rear link (might make the need for volume reducers change). It is even more capable downhill then previous and has much less chassis flex

I have had Norco's, liked them all, but with the carbon, fox forks I think, maxxis, dt swiss, eagle.....no brainer, I would go for the Giant. Plus they make a gazillion bikes, they have the money for R&D, tons of experience making carbon, not sure what the person means that they are "junk". Plus they have caught up to current geo. No brainer imo.
