I am currently attempting to get an all mountain bike. Something that will work for downhill, park, jumping, trail, etc. Then I came across the thought of a dirt jumper with a rear derailleur hanger. Many of you probably think I am mad, but I learned all of my skills on hardtail and a lot of small Bmx bikes too. Regardless I would like to hear opinions and possible frames. One of the frames I originally saw was the Santa Cruz jackal. The only problem is there are not Santa Cruz dealers in my area and Santa Cruz does not sell online. If you know of any websites that do sell the Jackal new could you also tell me that?
Thanks, I hope for your response.

i am pretty sure that they do not sell online at all
your best bet is used or travelling a bit to pick up a frame from a shop

It's not commonly done, but you can actually put a removable washer/hanger on any bike with horizontal dropouts. DMR makes one, as well as wheels manufacturing. I used one on a P3 that I had snapped the original removable hanger on. It worked just as well as the oem one did.

Ok, just wondering, because there are many online dealers.

I am currently doing the same thing and bought a charge blender. It's got the shape of a dirt jumper with a rear hanger.

One of the main things with attempting a "do it all" bike is how low you feel like you need the seat for jumping, versus how high do you need it for cranking miles of trail.

Some people can manage this difference with a quick release seat post clamp or dropper post. Others feel like they need two bikes....

Now that I think of it I could do more uphill with a dropper post on it.

The Perfect Bike?

I crank a Transition Double with 1 X 9 gearing around regular xc trails (with some features), as well as jump.

Although, I have to admit, being 6'1" with long legs, I need the post very high if I'm going to try to keep up with fast guys on true All Mountain bikes. So, if you're tall, I'm gonna have to say that a DJ or slopestyle frame is not a true substitute for All Mountain. But, then again, they handle on jumps and street/park a lot better than a true All Mountain frame, so there's a trade-off/decision.

A few too many. Got the Killswitch for sale. Maybe even the Double.

This is the video clip that got me psyched on the Double, by the way:

Could you check out the jackal and share your thoughts of it.

The Jackal is a very Dirt Jump specific geometry. 68.7 head angle, low standover, minimal (0.25") bb drop.

You could put gears on it, but it would be a Dirt Jumper With Gears, not a sort of cross-over All-Mountain+Jump+Park+Everything type of bike (which it's debatable if that's even possible, depending on a person's preferences, to have a "do everything" bike).

NS Surge Evo. With this bike, notice how the fork has more travel, the seat tube is taller (and top tube less slanted). Some people would call this an All-Mountain/Freeride hardtail that you can jump.

It totally depends on the trails, spots you ride. I can't say without being there.

Check this out.... Transition Double, sized Small. They were like $1500 frame & rear shock, and this one NEW is $575.
