My 2015 Patrol rear brake has met it's maker, its toast. Time to to swp and or upgrde these things. Stock was Shimano Deore br-m615 2 piston, I swapped from 160mm to 203mm rotors for some more power and modulation, also running mixed pads, metallic and resin front and rear. I am 6'1 200lbs. What are you guys running these days for brakes? If I am changing them out, I might as well upgrade. Currently looking at Shimano XT br-m8120 4-piston, possibly a br-m8100 2-piston in the front and 4-piston in the rear with the same pad combo. Any input would be appreciated.

TRP or mag's. as a heavier person(myself is 210lbs) on big longer decedents the shimano deore/slx/xt/xtr will get over whelmed then if you let go an grab them again they may not be there.
You would be wanting 4 pistons in front and 2 in rear if you wanted to do a split setup.
Theres always Sram Code series with trickstuff pads, but seriously will send you over the bars.
or zee/saints for shimano's proper brakes.
P.s power wise there is no difference between the base deore and XTR.

I'm running Zee's and love them. The power is incredible, they don't seem to suffer from the WBP issues, and the mineral oil is easier and safer to work with the DOT. The only issues are weight and actually finding them for sale somewhere - a lot of places are sold out, especially of the rears.

My biggest I was 250ish and now down to 204ish Magura MT5 is my choice for bigger travel and MT Trail Sport for trail bikes. Never wanted more power and easy to maintain.

Get the TRP DHR Evo if you can. They are STRONG and have great modulation. The thicker rotors are key in making for a reliable brake that deals with heat well.
