29er frame- build up 27.5 wheels to + or fit 29 wheel in fork?

29er new titanium hardtail. My old bike was 27.5 and the build I'd used on it I really liked.

If I sell the Fox 36 Factory GRIP2 forks I don't think I'd get like for like as buyers want a bargain but sellers are very few and far between in 29er like for like forks used.

So I was thinking.... run 2.8 27.5 tyres in (I can easily and do rum 2.6 already).

2.8 27.5 will get me very close to a 29er wheel diameter?

Or...

Fit a 29er 2.35 tyred wheelset in and see if 29 will fit my Fox 36 forks?

Anyone tried this recently? The forks are the Kashima not the circular-shaped arch that new Fox's seem to come with.

27.5 plus is a very different ride feel to 29 though...27.5 plus is more plush but a lot more squirmy and the rebound is undamped so at high speed it can get a bit out of control. For just cruising around local woods at mellow pace plus is nice and comfortable. It all depends on what you will be riding. Another option is you buy some 29 FOX lower legs and swap them over.

The problem is changing the lowers when you include cost to change means you might as well sell them.

27.5 plus is an acquired taste. On the front, unless you are really heavy it just tends to slide in wet uk conditions as it’ s too wide (2.8 and over) to bite into terrain but not wide enough to give the float AND traction you get from a full fat tyre (4” and above). In loose dry summer conditions it tends to slide too when you start pushing it and and as said it doesn’t have the sidewall stability to stand up to hard riding and abuse. In short It’s a shit option for most people.

If your rims are 35mm internal width then you could get away with 2.6 tyres which are about as wide as you’ll want to go but a 29er front is just a better option Due to the improved roll over the bigger hoop provides.

id probably try the 29er wheel int fork. The ns bikes and sr suntour dh team (I think it was ns could’ve been polygon) ran a 29er wheel in their 27.5 downhill lowers and raced world cups on it due to a lack of supply. I saw it on here a few months ago so would probably work fine.

As far as I know a 29 2.3 at least will fit in most 27.5 forks...some with less clearance than others. But the problem can come with crown hitting the tyre on full compression.
